I'm Michelle D., the breeder behind Beloved Bearded & Border Collies located in Baltimore, MD. We are family-owned and take exceptional care of our dogs who are a part of our family. Our dogs are beautiful and smart; they participate and compete in agility, conformation, rally, obedience, tricks, disc, and become certified as therapy dogs. Our versatile dogs make excellent companions. Our puppies are hand raised using Puppy Culture. The puppies don't leave our home before 8-9 weeks old, and they go to their new families microchipped, with shot records, and puppy packs. All of our breeding dogs are DNA tested for diseases, eyes, and their hips and elbows are screened at the age of 2 years by the OFA. We encourage all prospective puppy owners to do their research and be prepared with questions to ask. Michelle has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.
Michelle partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 7 weeks old.
“We take great care in thoughtfully matching each puppy with the most suitable family based on temperament, personality, and intended lifestyle. Temperament evaluations are conducted at approximately seven weeks of age, and final placement decisions are made by carefully considering the family’s stated activity level and lifestyle needs, along with the individual temperament and developmental profile of each puppy. Secondary considerations, such as gender preferences and desired markings, will also be taken into account whenever possible; however, our primary priority is ensuring the best long-term match for both the puppy and the family.”

“For full-breed puppies, the price includes AKC limited-registration (registration with the AKC responsibility of buyer), age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, activated microchip with AKC Reunite, health certificate, and health guarantee as stated in contract. Please contact us for an application and for any questions. All puppies sold on an AKC limited-registration are the same price regardless of color or gender. Full registration reserved for show and potential breeding homes. If you plan to show the dog in conformation, please inquire about full-registration rights.”

Litter update on 10 July •…Buddy enjoyed a special evening filled with plenty of love and pampering! He had a relaxing bath, a fluffy blow-dry, and even had his nails trimmed so he's looking extra handsome and feeling his very best. Of course, no spa day would be complete without playtime! Buddy had a wonderful time romping around, exploring, and soaking up lots of attention before settling in for the night. This sweet boy continues to grow in confidence and personality every day. He's affectionate, curious, and always ready for his next adventure. Buddy can't wait to meet his forever family soon!

Litter update on 09 July •…Outdoor Adventures! 🐾☀️ The puppies have been having an absolute blast exploring the great outdoors! As they've grown more confident and adventurous, we've been spending time in the yard, where they can safely experience all the exciting sights, sounds, and textures that nature has to offer. They've been busy romping through the grass, chasing one another, investigating leaves, sticks, and flowers, and discovering all kinds of new smells. Every day brings a new adventure, and it's wonderful to watch their curiosity and confidence blossom. They are becoming more coordinated, playful, and independent while still checking in with one another, and with me, for reassurance. Outdoor play is an important part of their early development. It helps build confidence, encourages problem-solving, strengthens their growing bodies, and provides valuable opportunities for social interaction and environmental enrichment. Whether they're climbing over small obstacles, following one another on little adventures, or simply stretching out in the sunshine after a good play session, they're learning something new every day. Of course, after all that excitement, everyone is ready for a well-earned nap! These little ones are growing up so quickly, and I can't wait for each of you to experience their joyful personalities in person. The countdown to homecoming is almost here as they will be going to their new homes this weekend with Buddy, the first puppy to escape the whelping pen, leading the way as he will be traveling to Colorado accompanied by his flight nanny, early tomorrow morning.

Litter update on 03 July •…Today was another hot summer day, even with the air conditioning running. The puppies made the most of it by enjoying plenty of ice chips, frequent water breaks, and endless games that kept both their bodies and minds engaged. Despite the heat, they were full of enthusiasm and had a wonderful day exploring, playing, and continuing to build their confidence. As a special reward for their calm, attentive behavior, everyone was introduced to canned sardines packed in water. Needless to say, they were a huge hit! Not only are they a healthy treat rich in omega-3 fatty acids, but they also provided another novel sensory experience. One behavior I'm especially pleased to see developing is that the puppies are beginning to understand that greeting people calmly is much more rewarding than launching themselves into my lap. They are gradually replacing enthusiastic "puppy cannonball" greetings with more thoughtful approaches. I jokingly told them that if their future families would like to teach them to “ricochet” off people as a trick, they can certainly learn that later, once their joints are fully developed and their humans are prepared for the impact! For now, we're focusing on polite greetings, self-control, and building lifelong habits that will help them become wonderful companions. For many this will be their last week with us before setting off to their new homes. They will have homes all over the country. I will be following up shortly to confirm pick up times so they are staggered throughout the day.

Litter update on 30 June •…The puppies had their veterinary examinations today, and I am happy to report that each one received a clean bill of health. The puppies continue to develop wonderfully. They are becoming increasingly playful, curious, confident, and socially engaged as they explore their environment. Their individual personalities are emerging more each day, and it has been a joy to watch them learn from one another, seek out human interaction, and gain confidence through new experiences. Many thanks to the caring professionals at Bellevue Veterinary Hospital who made the morning joyful.

Litter update on 15 June •…The puppies continue to grow, explore, and delight us with their curious little personalities! This week has been filled with new adventures and enriching activities designed to support their development, confidence, and problem-solving skills. One of their favorite activities was navigating a colorful ball pit. Watching them investigate, climb through, and interact with the moving balls was both entertaining and beneficial for their sensory and motor development. Some pups dove right in with confidence, while others took a more thoughtful approach, carefully testing the experience before fully joining the fun. It was wonderful to see their individual temperaments shine through. After our play session in the pen, cleanup was much easier in the guest bathroom tub, which provided a safe and contained space for washing little paws and retrieving the many stray balls that somehow managed to follow the puppies everywhere! The puppies are becoming increasingly engaged with their environment, showing growing confidence, curiosity, and social interaction each day. We look forward to sharing more of their adventures as they continue to learn, play, and grow.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
