Meet the breeder

I'm Shilo M., the breeder behind Big Gulch Puppies located in Cabool, MO. Our dogs are healthy and we are dedicated to raising healthy, loving, intelligent puppies. We take great pride in our puppies and start socializing and doing sensory touch from birth. Our goal is for your family to have the best experience with a well rounded puppy. We love what we do and it shows.

Q. & A. with Shilo

  • Why did you start breeding?

I actually had a King Charles Cavalier for 13 years at the time and her health was failing. My husband suggested we move to our place in the country and start breeding. After a lot of research and visiting other breeders and viewing kennels we decided to move forward. My cavalier ended up living for and additional 3 years and I believe that is due to bringing puppies into our home - amazing!
  • What makes your program special?

Taking pride in our dogs and loving them. That is so important and carries over to our puppies! Socialization and sensory starting from birth to get the use to touch, sounds, etc. They acclimate great to all ages and home types.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our Cavapoo puppies are miniature size. Poodle puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Cavapoo puppies include brown, blenheim, black, and red. Coton de Tulear puppies include tri-color, black and white, and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in a kennel on my property.

I must start off by saying that bringing home our little guy was an absolutely wonderful experience, thanks to Shilo from Big Gulch Puppies. This was my first time buying a puppy for myself and my family, and I was very nervous. Speaking with Shilo for the first time immediately put me at ease and gave me the confidence to continue the process. Shilo answered every question I had and kept us updated on our little guy's status while we waited to bring him home. No matter what time of day I reached out with a question, she always responded with an answer, and I truly appreciated that. I don't trust people easily and tend to be very guarded, but I can honestly say that Shilo made it easy to trust the process. Picking him up was also a great experience, as her husband provided all the information we needed to help our puppy transition smoothly into his new home. I've even recommended Big Gulch Puppies to my neighbors and friends, especially because everywhere we go now, people want to stop and pet our little guy, Cosmo (formerly Ringo). Whenever someone asks where we got him, I'm always happy to send them to Shilo and Big Gulch Puppies!

We lost our Charlie of almost 7 years on the 21st of June. He suffered from seizures his whole life and one night he was having one right after another. The vet called the next morning not being able to get him to stop. We lost him. My kids 18&13 were devastated. My daughter was missing his presence and companionship. We started looking for a puppy. We found Rio (Boone) and fell in love. I’d never done anything like this before but Shilo made this easy and so comfortable for me. He arrived in the middle of the night on the 15th about 2. We all stayed up till 6am with him and spending time together. He’s been the best thing I think for my kids and their dad to help them move on. He’s funny and fast. This was one of the best things I ever did and I can’t thank everyone enough for making this process smooth and easy. Our hearts are full again
