I'm Diane F., the breeder behind Bizzy Acres Miniature Schnauzers located in Oklahoma City, OK. While I breed for show potential, my main focus is on breeding healthy puppies with wonderful temperaments for families! Puppies are raised at the edge of my kitchen in a family environment and begin learning the rules as necessity presents itself, including crate training. I always hope for a show prospect but my focus remains on health and great temperaments since most will become family members as pets.
Q. & A. with Diane
Why did you start breeding?
I actually began breeding when my children were small and we had a couple of Beagles we got from my dad's breeding program. Then came the Gordon Setters that had big puppies and then Miniature Schnauzers that are easier to manage in the house. I have a ranching background so breeding seemed like the natural thing to do. When you have beautiful dogs you want to share that with other families.
What makes your program special?
Breeding for puppies that match the breed standard as closely as possible in colors that are accepted comes first -- no designer puppies. Health testing sets my breeding program up for success and having knowledge of the dogs in the pedigrees and possible health issues to breed away from is critical. Before my puppies go to their new homes they are well started on crate training, house breaking and beginning behavioral training. My dogs live in my home, not in a kennel.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.
