Meet the breeder

I'm Jason S., the breeder behind Black Feather Tibetan Mastiffs located in Chippewa Falls, WI. Our dogs are bred for health and temperament with a focus on conformation. We are dedicated to providing our families with wonderful, healthy family pets. We are active in AKC conformation shows and members of the American Tibetan Mastiff Association.

Q. & A. with Jason

  • Why did you start breeding?

Our journey into breeding began with a deep love for the Tibetan Mastiff and a desire to preserve everything that makes this breed so special. As passionate breed ambassadors, we felt the breed deserved breeders willing to go above and beyond—prioritizing health, temperament, and thoughtful puppy raising for the next generation.
  • What makes your program special?

At Black Feather Tibetan Mastiffs, our breeding program focuses on health, temperament, and true breed type. All breeding dogs are extensively health tested and proven in AKC events. Puppies are raised in our home with early socialization and enrichment, then carefully matched to families based on temperament to ensure the best lifelong fit.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include red gold sable and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Jason

Jason has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Jason partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 8 weeks old.

“Matching our puppies to the right families is something we take very seriously. Rather than allowing families to choose a puppy based solely on appearance, we evaluate each puppy’s temperament, confidence, energy level, and personality around 8–9 weeks of age. By getting to know both our puppies and the families on our waitlist, we are able to thoughtfully place each puppy in the home where they will thrive, ensuring the best lifelong match for both the dog and their family. ”
