I'm Miguel Angel V., the breeder behind Blackberry Creek Basset Hounds located in Willow Spring, NC. We have a deep love for the Basset Hounds. We got our first Basset as an emotional support dog for our daughter. We got hooked in to the breed . We got in love with their character and disposition. Sooner than later our pack grew and we had our first litter . We decided that we would responsibly breed Basset hounds. For us that means that we ensure the parents and puppies are healthy and well cared. Our dogs are part of our family.

Why did you start breeding?
We got our first Basset Hound as an emotional support dog for our daughter. We got hooked with the breed. Their character and beauty got us. We think they are great family dogs if you understand they are hounds . They are dogs designed to hunt that also happen to be great pets. We decided to breed our dogs in a responsible way to provide puppies that are home raised and well cared for. We don't breed dogs for a living , we breed them for the passion we have with this particular breed.What makes your program special?
Our dogs are home raised , they live with us and are family for us. We put special effort on ensuring they are healthy dogs. They are on a wellness plan with regular vet visits and comprehensive health exams. They are on monthly prevention of ticks , fleas and heart worms. We do DNA testing for our dogs to ensure their puppies have a low risk of inherited diseases. We follow up the pregnancy of our dogs with their vets , performing ultrasound and x-ray imaging when pertinent. Medical records of our dogs are available to the new families of our puppies.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include lemon and white, black brown and white, and black red and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

Puppy prices include a $200 refundable deposit and between $600 - $1,100 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“The price includes age appropriate vaccines and deworming. Veterinary Health check DNA records of dad and mom showing they are healthy and pure breed. The deposit secures your puppy . We will remove it from our list of puppies available for adoption and will deduct from the price of your puppy. It is only refundable if we can not provide you with your selected puppy. It is not refundable due buyer cancellation.”

Program update on 02 Dec. •…Peter Pan came back to us after his owner had an unexpected life change. We went to pick him up to Maryland. We put him up to date on vaccines. He gained weight and is a bit over 24 pounds. He is a sweet guy , ready for his new home.

Litter update on 19 Nov. •Elektra found a home with one of our owners. We know she will be loved and cared for. Thank you to the previous owner for putting the wellness of the puppy first . I know it was hard and heart breaking. I am thankful for that trust , i am thankful for the new owners , they are a loving family. Than k you.

Litter update on 19 Nov. •…Elektra is available again for rehoming. Her family decided they were not ready for a puppy. We went to pick her up to Delaware. We get her up to date in vaccines and did a fecal float . We kept her on observation for a week after her vaccines . She is in perfect shape . She has a great temperament and is very playful.

About Fifi
Fifi is genuinely a lovebug. She has super expressive eyes and she is always happy to hang out with you and requires a lot of belly rubs. Fifi is daughter of Shax and Lemon , she stole our hearts and became part of our pack.

About Hank
Hank is a beautiful tan and black basset hound with a bit of white on his chest. He loves to run and is very protective of his house and dam. Hank has been genetically tested with Wisdom Panel for Breeders and Embark for breeders. His genetic tests went clean. His results have been registered with the OFA. He is on a controlled diet of Purina 30/20 . We like to keep our dogs under 60 pounds as it is better for their joints. He is on monthly Simparica trio for Flea , Tics and Heartworms prevention. He is dewormed regularly. He has regular visits to the vet to ensure he is healthy . He sleeps with us and is kept on a family environment.

Shax is the reason why we got in to Basset Hounds. He was an emotional support dog for my daughter. He is a very active dog , that loves to run . He is a beautiful tricolor. He is not aggressive at all and is always ready to cuddle or play. He is Lemon's boy friend.

Lemon is a beautiful lemon and white basset hound. She is our grumpy mama with a big heart. She has no fear to anybody but she is the first to ask for a belly rub when she knows you. She has a beautiful conformation . Lemon is on a monthly wellness plan where she gets frequent vet visits . She is on monthly Simparica trio for flea, tick and worm prevention. She is on a diet of Purina Pro Plan 30/20. She has been genetically tested with Wisdom panel and has been cleared for over 200 inheritable diseases. Her report is available.

Blackberry Creek Basset Hounds is a great place. I picked my pup when she was 1 week old got up dates and pictures as she got older I really felt like it was my pup I so her develop through the weeks. The pups are raised in the house the family has a large pen set up inside. The kitchen, the table are there the pups get the new smells and action of people in daily life plus the daily handling, teeth brushing ear cleaning all that sorts, the pups are familiar with that, it's a family affair and it's great I got a great pup thanks to the care of the family and caring so much that the pups go to a really good home. Miguel Angel was the best decision we ever made! From the start, he made the process extremely easy, and his knowledge and care for his dogs have no limit! We find comfort knowing the parents genetic testing, he constantly sent updates, and sent extra pictures whenever I requested any. He even did a fall photoshoot for our girl.
