I'm Joe and Valerie C., the breeder behind Blooming Basset located in Hodges, SC. Why did you start breeding?
Our first breeding experience was with Welsh Springer Spaniels. We did that for a number of years before taking a hiatus from breeding. We have owned basset hounds routinely throughout the 90's and into the 2000's. After much experience with the basset hound breed, we wanted to see how we could improve the breed with careful health screening.What makes your program special?

Our puppies include tan and white, black white and brown, black and white, and lemon and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

Joe and Valerie has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.
After buyers complete the application and screening process, Joe and Valerie partners with them to find the best puppy match.

“The price includes the guarantee, CKC or AKC registration, first round of vaccinations, deworming, and puppy socialization. The deposit will hold your puppy for 2 weeks. After that time, it is expected that full payment be made on the purchase.”

About Zylee
Zylee has a big, charming personality that shines in everything she does. She’s naturally goofy, often making people laugh with her playful antics and expressive face. Her friendly and affectionate nature makes her a joy to be around—she absolutely loves being around people and quickly wins over everyone she meets. Zylee is especially gentle and patient with children, showing a sweet, nurturing side that highlights her warm heart. While she has a laid-back and easygoing attitude most of the time, she’s always ready for fun and loves to play. She’s also known for her signature baying at strangers, a quirky but endearing part of her personality that shows her alertness and loyalty.

Bentley is a loveable and friendly fellow who loves his playtime with his basset buddies. As a pup, he loved stealing the toilet paper rolls. As an adult he has graduated to paper towel rolls when he can get them. He enjoys hanging out with Joe in his shop. Bentley is AKC registered and has a clear DNA profile.

About Lilli Koi
Lilli Koi is gentle-natured and loves her belly rubs. She is fond of chasing her sisters all around the property. Although she spends much of her time inside, she often likes to just lay in the sun after a good play outing. Lilli Koi is AKC registered and has a clear DNA panel.

Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

We picked up Remi ( Willow) yesterday and had such a wonderful experience. Made the 20 hour round trip drive worth it. Joe and Valerie were so welcoming, honest, knowledgeable, and kind. +4Joe and Valerie were amazing every step of the way - responsive and warm in the beginning, easy to coordinate meeting with to get our 2 perfect puppies, and gave us so much helpful information (incredibly organized - paperwork, best practices, tips for cleaning their ears). They also gave us adorable gift bags for each with food, new toys, a blanket that smells like their litter - I could go on and on about what a great experience it was! I felt very supported and prepared to take on the chaos of 2 puppies :) Spruce and Elvis are already the center of our world 5 days in - handsome, smart, and clearly spent the first 10 weeks of their life in an awesome environment. I feel so grateful that I was able to find Valerie and Joe. If you're thinking of getting a Bassett (great idea if I do say so myself) I cannot recommend them enough!
