I'm Ashton B., the breeder behind Bockelman GSP’s located in Edenton, NC. We’re a small family breeder in eastern NC focused on raising AKC German Shorthaired Pointers with excellent temperaments, intelligence, and athleticism. Our dogs come from hunting bloodlines and are valued family companions. We prioritize health, structure, and early socialization in every litter.

Why did you start breeding?
Working as a K9 handler and trainer introduced me to the German Shorthaired Pointer and their exceptional work ethic and trainability. My experience with working dogs naturally led me to developing a small, thoughtful breeding program focused on health, temperament, and structure.What makes your program special?
What makes my program special is my background as a K9 handler and trainer, which gives me a strong understanding of working dog temperament, structure, and trainability. I focus on raising well-balanced German Shorthaired Pointers that fit active family lifestyles. Each litter is raised in our home with hands-on care and early socialization.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include liver, black and white, liver and white, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

Getting a puppy from Ashton
Ashton has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.
Ashton partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 6 weeks old.

“Price includes vaccinations, deworming, socialization, puppy starter kit, medical records. All puppies are the same price regardless of sex. Deposit will secure your spot in the litter.”

Litter update on 13 July •…Big milestone for our litter—their eyes are officially open! 🐾🩷 The puppies are starting to take in the world around them, and it's amazing to watch their little personalities begin to shine. They're growing stronger every day, spending lots of time nursing, sleeping, and snuggling with their littermates. We couldn't resist sharing a few new photos of these sweet faces now that they're looking back at us! Thank you to everyone who's been following along and cheering them on. About Inca
Meet Inca, our stunning solid black German Shorthaired Pointer with an exceptional heart to match her beauty. She is the definition of a people-oriented companion and has never met a stranger. Her favorite place is right by our side, and she's always happy to soak up pets, praise, and affection. She truly loves to love. Raised in our home alongside our small children, Inca has a calm, gentle, and affectionate temperament that makes her an incredible family dog. She is patient, nurturing, and attentive, and those same qualities shine through as a devoted, instinctive mother to her puppies. Coming from hunting bloodlines, she has excellent natural hunting instincts, athletic ability, and the intelligence and drive that make German Shorthaired Pointers such versatile dogs. While she has the instinct and desire to work, she also has a wonderful off-switch at home, making her equally content relaxing with her family. We are proud to have Inca as part of our breeding program because she represents the qualities we value most in the breed: a loving temperament, strong family connection, natural ability, and sound character. We hope each of her puppies carries on her affectionate nature, eagerness to please, and versatility as both loyal companions and capable sporting dogs.

Meet Vader, our handsome liver and white ticked German Shorthaired Pointer. He is the perfect combination of affectionate companion and driven sporting dog. He loves being with his family just as much as he loves having a job to do, and his fun-loving personality keeps everyone smiling. With endless enthusiasm, Vader thrives on running, retrieving, and exploring. His exceptional nose is one of his greatest strengths—you'd be hard-pressed to hide anything from him as his nose will inevitably arrive at what he seeks. His natural instincts and determination make him an excellent representation of the breed's hunting heritage. At home, he's an affectionate, loyal companion who enjoys spending time with his people. He's also a total goofball with a playful spirit that brings joy to our family every day. His combination of athleticism, trainability, and loving temperament is exactly what we value in our breeding program. We are proud to have Vader as part of our program and hope his puppies inherit his strong drive, natural ability, and fun, affectionate personality—qualities that make him an outstanding hunting partner and a wonderful family companion.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
