About Chani
As a Sci-fi nerd, I had been waiting 40years to use the Chani name on a Ridgeback bitch. With my original ridgeless boys named Charlie and Chester... and then recycling those names with my first all-African Glenaholm boys, I wanted to stick with the "Ch" theme as often as possible. Sean Young's portrayal of a character by this name in the original Dune Film seemed perfect for an especially beautiful girl. Chani is my baby... Her mother Oona, grandmother Hermione, and Great-grandmother Hera are the greatest mothers that I've ever seen. Like her mother and grandmother, they are the furthest thing from a dominant bitch. I used to say that I could throw Hermione into a room full of strangers' babies and walk away without worry. Chani is shy by nature, but ultimately happy to meet everyone, two and four-legged. With her father being from Italy, and having bred almost exclusively from European/Russian/South African lines... she is exactly what I wanted to see born in my hands, long before my very first litter was planned.

About Nye (KNEE-eh)
Nye (Knee-uh) is a bit of a Diva :) She lives with my sister, Rachael, only about a mile and a half down the road. We've had 14 Ridgeback ladies live with us over the last couple of decades. Nye is a very typical queen... she loves to antagonize her mother, Maggie... and was very gentile and courteous with her granny Anora as a young puppy. She's a lovely girl that has always been great with visitors.
