I'm Jessica M., the breeder behind Boondock Bouviers located in Edon, OH. Bouvier Des Flanders are gentle, rational, even-tempered, loyal, aloof and protective dogs. They were bred to work, herd cattle and pull carts, to be a farm hand, guardian and protector. This is the Bouvier I aim to breed and raise. We focus on making sure we produce healthy well balanced puppies.
Q. & A. with Jessica
Why did you start breeding?
I’ve been lovin bouvs ad long as I’ve been livin. My earliest memories include my 2 guardians, Mandarin and Paco. They didn’t have a flock or herd to attend but my brother and I were their charges. They played with us, they protected us. Later in life, we got Jackie, she was a true farm dog, she did it all and showed me what bouvs were meant to do. Those three are the reason I breed bouviers.
What makes your program special?
The AKC describes Bouviers “as being able to do anything that needs doing in a barnyard or pasture except milk the cows. Their sterling character, huge heart, and keen intelligence endear them to dog lovers the world over.”
The Bouvier Des Flanders was bred to work. To herd cattle and pull carts, to be a farm hand, guardian and protector. That description should be the most basic standard. This is the Bouvier I aim to breed and raise.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are black and brindle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
