I'm Vanessa B., the breeder behind Bradford Catahoulas located in Scott City, KS. The breed was developed with working instincts as a priority, we strive to stick to that as much as possible, while still improving the health of the breed, and creating structurally sound dogs that are as close to the NALC breed standard as possible.

Why did you start breeding?
My mom bred Pomeranians when I was little. It was more of a BYB on a small scale situation. I've always been drawn to dogs and dog breeding but preferred larger dogs. My step-father introduced me to the Catahoula breed in 1997 where I was hooked. I went to a few shows where my dog placed in Treeing and Conformation. In 2004 my life took a turn and I got out of dogs until 2017.What makes your program special?
We do not keep males so all studs used, if not bred by us, are owned by someone else. We keep at least one female from each litter and sell select males as co-owned to working only homes, where we pay for all testing, semen collection, analysis, and storage. This keeps us from having unplanned litters while still giving us access to our pick of males to compliment each female.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

“We do not place puppies based on color preference. The buyers needs (sex and temperament) are matched with an appropriate puppy that matches said needs. First come first serve only applies if I have multiple people looking for the same qualities. If i have more than one puppy that matches stated qualities then the buyer may choose between them.”

“Price includes age appropriate shots, 1 month flea/tick medication, contract, photos and forms for registration, collar, leash, 5lbs bag of dog food, 1 yak stick, AKC reunite chip with membership, and vet records. Deposit refund is contingent on certain conditions expressed in the contract.”

Program update on 14 Jan •…This is an early 2027 litter. Heavy Wager breeding. Spiders is a Monkey, Jones/Tic tac grand-daughter. Cane is off of bandit/Tic tac. We are so excited for this cross. Sire passed a few years ago. He was used for cattle and hunting hogs. He prefers hunting. Dam, as of this posting, is in training for cattle and is showing great promise. Dames first pups were chasing and baying piglets at 12 weeks old.

About Spiders
Spiders is a sweet, happy go lucky dog. She is also very vocal, and is the loudest in the yard. She is in training to work cattle. She is currently started on goats. She has a natural circle and is very focused. Her first litter was showing interest in goats and pigs by 12 weeks.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
