I'm Maria D., the breeder behind Breeze Basset Hounds located in Gulf Breeze, FL. Our pups are AKC, genetically tested, 1yr health guarantee, UTD on shots, & raised around toddlers-teens.   • Why did you start breeding?

    My dad bred my childhood dog so I was always familiar with the process, but before I started breeding, I did about three years of research and ensuring it was the right thing for our family and our dogs. In our area of North Florida there weren’t any available good looking bassets for 7+ hrs. I saw a need and decided to do it. A lot of our bassets go to local families in the area.

  • What makes your program special?

    My dogs are first and foremost part of our family. The puppies are born and raised inside our home in a huge section of our living room. I am extremely open about our dogs and I do my best to build a relationship with a client so they know that they can reach out to me for questions or advice at anytime. It is not a one time purchase but a relationship throughout the Dog’s life if needed/wanted.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include black brown and white and lemon and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Maria

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Maria partners with them to find the best puppy match.

Puppy prices include a $300 non-refundable deposit and between $1,500 - $1,600 final payment, before taxes & fees.

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Gonioscopy

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Thrombopathia, Basset Hound Type

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience with Norman’s breeder! From the very beginning, her communication was amazing. She kept us updated, shared SO many pictures, and was always willing to answer questions and provide helpful information. Beyond being an incredible breeder, she was genuinely such a fun person to get to know, which made the whole experience even more special. One thing I especially appreciated was how much she did to prepare her puppies for life with their families. She exposed them to ear cleaning, nail trimming, and baths from an early age, and I cannot tell you how much that has helped us! Norman has been so much more comfortable with these necessary parts of grooming because they weren't completely new or scary to him. We have children in our home, and one thing that drew us in was her own family. I could tell her kids were gentle and involved with their puppies, which got our puppy ready for a life with the daily noises and activities of our own home. It was one of the more important factors in choosing a breeder- what kind of home life they were born into. With the pictures, communication, and pointers, I knew these puppies were loved. I could tell she was vetting the homes they went to, and that they were being bred for the right reasons and to share the love of this breed with others. And then there’s Norman Waddlesworth himself. He is STINKIN’ ADORABLE. Those dreamy eyes, his beautiful coloring, and that sweet little face completely stole my heart. I fell instantly in love with him, and we have formed the most amazing bond. I’ve had puppies before, but I have genuinely never had a puppy quite like Norman. He is such a healthy, snuggly little love bug, and he has brought so much joy to our family. His parents are both absolutely beautiful dogs, and you can tell they are loved, well cared for, and treated like family. It was obvious that Norman came from a breeder who truly cares about the dogs she raises and the families they go home to. We are completely smitten with our little Norman Waddlesworth, and I am so grateful we found his breeder. I would recommend her wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a beautiful, healthy, well-socialized puppy from someone who genuinely cares about what she does. ❤️

    Maria was a joy to work with. I got updates frequently during the whole process. She was accommodating in surprising my mother with a puppy visit.     Maria is very responsive and knowledgeable about basset hounds. One thing that really stuck out to my husband and I is that she loves the puppies like they’re her own babies when caring for them. Once pickup occurs she doesn’t just cut contact either, she loves to get updates on the babies as they grow. She’s been such an amazing breeder to work with and we couldn’t have been luckier to have found her on gooddog! We honestly couldn’t be more grateful for her or for Honey!
