I'm Deirdre M., the breeder behind Brigadoon Farm located in Myersville, MD. Our Terriers are bred to be healthy, outgoing, hardy, and smart. A Brigadoon pup is a fun companion that one can attend the JRTCA trials with, go hiking or hunting, or be the best farm terrier.
Q. & A. with Deirdre
Why did you start breeding?
For generations my family has always had good farm Terriers or working dogs, but I'm seeing an era that purposeful breeds are going extinct or being bred down. I am inspired to breed Jack Russell Terriers because it is my duty to promote and continue to breed a healthy Terrier with purpose and drive. I do not want to see later generations without this fun, intelligent, active dog.
What makes your program special?
My breeding program is special due to environment. Environment is key to keep instincts high, for conformation correctness, provide social skills, and for health. My pups are raised in our home on the farm where they receive lots of visitors. The pups are introduced to other dogs, cats, and chickens, and have smelled many of the strange scents that can be found playing outside.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include tri-color and tan and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
