Q. & A. with Tess
Why did you start breeding?
I use to breed horses and worked on multiple breeding farms. Horses are a big commitment and financially I am not ready for that endeavor. But I loved raising foals and learning about the reproduction process.
I have always loved German Shepherds and wanted to apply what I learned in the horse industry to breeding dogs. I wanted to start an ethical business.
What makes your program special?
High standards of which individuals qualify to pass on their genetics. All dogs live in my home.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have stock coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include sable and bi-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

My husband and I were searching on many of the online pet finder links looking for an all black german shepherd. We came across Good Boy and Tess Leeper from Brighton Shepherds. On her page were 2 beautiful all black shepherds. We immediately inquired about them and Tess got back to us immediately. We chose to put a deposit down on Rosalie to reserve her and the rest of the process was very simple. Tess was wonderful. She answered all of our questions and helped us with every step of the process even coming halfway from Vermont to meet my husband in picking up the puppy. Good Dog and Tess made the whole process a positive experience. I would recommend Tess of Brighton Shepherds and Good Dog to anyone interested in bringing home a wonderful puppy. We are so thrilled to have found the perfect puppy for us and that she is everything that we wanted. I would give this whole experience a 5 out of 5 stars. Perfect!

Tess was so responsive and knowledgeable about the breed and continued to answer questions even after we got the puppy. She was wonderful to meet us half way. Our puppy is happy and healthy, highly recommend Tess as a breeder.
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
