Buchanan’s Shepherds

Kelsey B.

Breeder of German Shepherds

Meet the breeder

I'm Kelsey B., the breeder behind Buchanan’s Shepherds located in Cherokee, NC. All males and females are health tested and come from great lines. My goal is to improve the German Shepherd dog breed as a whole. I carefully choose the sire and dam in order to produce the best quality possible.

Q. & A. with Kelsey

  • Why did you start breeding?

I lost one of my Shepherds 3 years ago and decided that I didn’t want anyone to go through what I went through when I lost her. If health testing was done on parents it could have been prevented and I would still have her. From then on I wanted to produce healthy and long-lived shepherds and educate those who don’t know about the importance of health testing.
  • What makes your program special?

I work very closely with other breeders, and pet homes as well. I like to be on a personal level with buyers and build a bond or relationship that lasts forever. I want the buyer to be able to come to me with any and all questions or concerns about their puppy day or night.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include sable and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
