I'm Rebeckah A., the breeder behind Cacao German Shepherds located in Joshua, TX. AKC German Shepherds of excellent bloodlines with full health testing on parents. We take great pride in producing a small number of superb puppies raised in the home with loving care. Our dogs all live as part of our family in the house, playing in the yard, and on adventures with us- they do not live in kennels! We strive to breed only the best quality dogs and then raise up the puppies with optimal care including proper socialization, diet, and appropriate vaccines/parasite prevention. Our breeding dogs have had clearances of hips/elbow of dysplasia, DNA tested for DM, fantastic temperaments and fully titled!
Q. & A. with Rebeckah
Why did you start breeding?
Our first German Shepherd was a carefully chosen acquisition in 1996. We were looking for an animal that was intelligent, strong, loyal and athletic. After extensive research into many breeds, we decided that the German Shepherd was the right choice. We sought out a kennel that bred for solid structure, health, and temperaments. Our search brought us to our first GSD, Jagermeister. Jager was everything we hoped for and more. With almost human-like intelligence, there was nothing Jager could not do! He learned sentences of instructions and eagerly would carry out any task asked of him. He was gentle enough to be trusted in any situation, but also excelled at Personal Protection and scored well in competitions. He set the bar high for our future dogs, but also cemented our love for the breed!! The rest is history and we continue to strive to produce dogs that are an excellent example of the breed with the same goals in mind as our first dog: superior health, temperament, intelligence, and train-ability.
What makes your program special?
We believe in breeding to promote the breed of German Shepherds and produce animals that meet the breed standards with excellent health We also believe that a breeding dog should be allowed to live a full life and not live in a kennel. Our dogs are our family members first in the home as our goal is to produce quality family members for others!
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have stock coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include sable and black and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Nellie, mom
German Shepherd
About Nellie
Nellie is a direct German import who comes from German Show lines. We found her after looking for a very specific dog and Nellie hits all the points! She is beautiful, sweet, smart, and fun! She has passed the German temperament test (WB) as well as her AD (endurance test) and achieved her IGP1! She was rated "V" for excellent in the show ring as she has fantastic conformation and movement. Finally, she has also completed her Breed Survey, which is a rigorous testing to determine that she meets every standard set forth for a German Shepherd! Hips/elbows cleared through SV of dysplasia ("A" stamped pedigree) and she is DM clear. She loves to play, but has an excellent "off" switch and is pleasant in the house.

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
