I'm Vala Z., the breeder behind Cairdeas located in Phoenix, AZ. We adore our dogs! They’ve enriched our lives in ways we never imagined, and we are so happy to be able to share the wonderful qualities of the breed with others. Owning a Irish Red and White Setter is a beautiful experience, and it would be our honor to connect you with the perfect new addition to your family. Our dogs are very active in conformation through akc, ukc, and iabca as well as doing temperament testing through AKC. They also participate in other sports such as Fast Cat, Hunting tests as well as hunting itself, and Scentwork.

Why did you start breeding?
In 2023 I received my first Irish Red and White Setter, Molly, and fell absolutely in love with the breed. Working closely with my mentor in the breed I have showed her in conformation and learned so much about the breed.What makes your program special?
I only breed dogs that have shown exceptional health and conformation. I aim to further the breed and work with a mentor in the breed. I am part of the breed national club and only breed after extensive testing including health testing and temperament testing. The only dogs I will breed are 1st healthy, 2nd temperamentally sound, 3rd have excellent conformation. The Irish Red and White Setter is a hunting breed first and foremost and I aim to continue breeding "birdyness" and strong drive in my line of dogs.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are red and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
Getting a puppy from Vala
Vala has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.
Vala partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 7 weeks old.

About Molly
Molly is a female Irish Red and White Setter over 2 years old. Carefully selected as a great representative of her breed, Vala decided to make her part of their program. Vala has passed Good Dog’s screening process, which involved a review of their breeding practices, environment, and the mental and physical health of their dogs.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA), Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Leukocyte Adhesion Deficiency, Type I
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
