I'm Amber S., the breeder behind Carolina Coastal Mastinos located in Broadway, NC. A small scale breeder of Tibetan mastiffs with the goal to produce healthy, temperamentally stable, and well rounded dogs. Our breeding program stands out because of the personal attention we give to every detail of the journey. From researching breeding pairs and conducting health testing, to purposefully raising each pup with proper socialization and care, our goal is to help preserve this historic breed.
Q. & A. with Amber
Why did you start breeding?
My first mastiff was a rescue who passed from a plethora of both health and behavioral issues. After her, I went on a search for the “perfect” dog. After many years of owning mastiff breeds, I decided to become part of the community that aimed to preserve the true Tibetan as healthily and predictably as possible. That ultimately led me to raising Tibetans, where my heart has permanently resided.
What makes your program special?
I don’t strive for the largest, scariest, fluffiest, or most hypertyped Tibetan(s). My goal is a proportionately sized mastiff with a stable temperament and exemplary health. I strive to produce Tibetans reliable enough to be a trustworthy family pet, while also maintaining their genetic disposition to protect. On top of that, a long life free of any genetic health issues.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

I have had several dogs of different breeds over the years, but the Tibetan Mastiffs are so special, loving and you just can’t help hugging a dog this fluffy. They are playful, stubborn, caring and wonderful family members. I now have 2 males and could not be happier. The puppies were well socialize, house broken, and even tempered. Walking them, hiking and playing with them is great, they do require a consistent training approach and they love treats and buffalo 🦬 bones. Amber has been supportive, answering questions and giving tips. My teenagers love them and having the mastiffs, it’s matured both children and puppies.
Thanks Amber for all the love, support and the best dogs I have ever owned!
