Channing S.

Breeder of German Shepherds

Meet the breeder

I'm Channing S., the breeder behind Ca-She Shepherds located in San Francisco & Manteca, CA. We breed and show top-quality German Shepherds. Our involvement in the show world speaks to the standards that we breed by. Our breeding program focuses on maintaining the unique characteristics specific to German Shepherds while striving to produce puppies of superior health, temperament, and conformation. We are proud of our dogs and their puppies, and it is always our goal to preserve and better the breed with each litter.

Q. & A. with Channing

  • Why did you start breeding?

I started showing german shepherds in 1988/89. I decided to start breeding because I bought some dogs that didn't turn out and thought I could produce better stock. The other reason is to preserve the qualities of the breed as the founders had intended. I want dogs that are both conformationally sound and that can herd.
  • What makes your program special?

I spend two years reaching the potential health, temperment, and quality produced by a breeding before the mating takes places. I have a clear direction as to where I want to take my bloodline. I always think two generations ahead.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include stock, long, and plush coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include sable, black, bi-color, black and tan, and black and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
