I'm Donna M., the breeder behind Celtic River Jacks located in Murphy, NC. I started out with my first two Jack Russell‘s almost 25 years ago and all of my puppies come down from them so I know my lines very well. I want people to be happy with their new puppy and most importantly I want my puppies to be happy and well loved.
Q. & A. with Donna
Why did you start breeding?
Started with my first two Jack Russell’s Angus and Rugby Girl and I was hooked! I got into the conformation and performance aspect of the dog world and found out what I already knew, I had some pretty special genetics there. I enjoy passing on my temperaments, genetics, and knowledge to other families who love them just as much as I do. Once you go Jack you can’t come back!
What makes your program special?
I only plan one or two litters per year and they are very much wanted! I put a lot of time and effort into a litter of puppies and I find by only having a few select litters I can give 110% into that litter. From day one mom and babies are given the best care. First vet visit is at 3 days old and my birthing suite is impeccable. The start they get in life is vital to each puppy!
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include tri-color, white, and tan and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

“All of my puppies are sold with a spay and neuter agreement. They are not pet quality, but I prefer to sell my puppies to families who intend on spoiling them in their home. My vet does all my vaccines, tails, exams, etc. I am a firm believer of leaving things for the experts. Breeding is not for everyone. It is a full-time commitment and not to be taken lightly. There is so much that goes into it If you’re going to do it the proper way. I spare no expense when it comes to raising well adjusted, healthy, and happy pups in my home. All of my puppies are fully Litter box trained starting at three weeks old. I also do sound training to acclimate them to noises such as thunder, vacuum cleaners, Heavy rains, etc. When introducing this to them at a young age, I find it desensitizes them for their new environments. My deposits are not refundable, but they are transferable to another litter if a circumstance comes up where it is not good timing for a puppy. I understand that life happens and getting a puppy needs to be perfect timing for you and your family. You should not have Big events planned for at least the first six months of your puppies life when they are getting used to you, their routine, and their new surroundings. With the right time, patience, and structured environment, you will have an obedient Well behaved little terrier by the time they are six months old.”
