I'm Sandie R., the breeder behind Chasan Bassets located in Eros, LA. I have been raising and showing bassets since 1978. I am a member of The Basset Hound Club Of Bayou Country, the Basset Hound Club of America, and the Bayou Kennel Club, Inc. Our dogs are tested prior to breeding for POAG, Thrombopathia, MPS1, and Lafora disease.
Q. & A. with Sandie
Why did you start breeding?
I fell in love with the breed and wanted to do my part to better it. I believe good breeding is important and hope to continue improving the breed.
What makes your program special?
I study pedigrees and attributes and faults of my dogs before I do a breeding. My breedings have been planned out well in advance. Puppies are raised with round the clock care. I work from home, so my dogs have a lot of attention and interaction daily. They get lots of cuddle time with me rotating them to get to "watch" tv, etc. with me. My dogs are tested against Thrombopathia, MPS1, POAG, and Lafora to make sure we do not produce any puppies affected with these dreaded diseases.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include red and white and black brown and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
