Tina W.

Breeder of German Shepherds

Meet the breeder

I'm Tina W., the breeder behind Chinook Valley Farm located in Chinook, WA. We offer AKC German Shepherds that have been enjoyed in family homes, trained as therapy dogs, and for both search and rescue and the "DARE" program.

Q. & A. with Tina

  • Why did you start breeding?

I have been breeding dogs since 1967 and have been working with German Shepherds for decades. They are wonderful brilliant dogs, and my husband and I love working with them.
  • What makes your program special?

Together I, along with my husband Larry, have titled more than 40 AKC Champions in conformation, obedience, and herding. We also help our German Shepherd puppies start their young life off right getting fed our Natural Grass-fed Maine Anjou/Angus Beef, which helps them grow up healthy and strong.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Price

“We take a $500 deposit bank or a personal check, and screen prospective dog owners to ensure the dogs will be in a good home. If the expected litter does not produce the puppy the buyer had in mind the deposit can be transferred to the next available litter.”

Breeder-Reported Testing

Excellent level

Chinook Valley Farm reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for German Shepherds.

  • Hip Dysplasia

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Temperament Test

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
