I'm Sharlane C., the breeder behind Clattenburg Ridgebacks located in Holden, LA. We are a premier breeder of top quality Rhodesian Ridgebacks. We have owned Rhodesian Ridgebacks since 1980. Our dogs are imported and descendants of imported dogs from some of the oldest and best breeders in South Africa (Mushana, Glenholm, Lionsriver, and Clachan. Our Russian Imports represent some of the BEST Champion dogs in Russia. Our Ridgebacks have excellent conformation and faultless pedigrees. All of our dogs are very intelligent and have a great disposition.

Why did you start breeding?
I have been a Rhodesian Ridgeback owner/breeder since 1980.What makes your program special?
I spare no expense with my dogs. I only breed excellent examples of the breed after all health testing has been done. Our Ridgebacks are part of our family. We place our puppies in the best possible homes. We have imported our Ridgebacks from South Africa and Russia. Their bloodlines reflect Champion’s close up in their pedigree-and from some of the very best Ridgebacks. Price
Puppy prices include a $300 refundable deposit and between $1,700 - $2,700 final payment, before taxes & fees.
“Show/Breeding quality with full AKC Registration is $3000. Show Quality/Pet/Companion with limited Registration is $2000-$2500. $300 deposit is required to reserve a puppy. If we unfortunately do not have a puppy for you, your deposit is refunded or transferred to our next litter—your choice.”
Contract & health guarantee
Sharlane may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA), Brucellosis
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
