I'm Millie J., the breeder behind Cloverdell Irish located in Splendora, TX. My puppies are raised in my home. I am a boutique breeder. I have just 3 Irish they are my family, they are my heart. I breed only the highest quality Irish terriers if the breeding pair does not pass rigorous health, conformation, and temperament tests I absolutely will not breed them.
Q. & A. with Millie
Why did you start breeding?
I decided I wanted to become a breeder 22 years ago. However I promised myself that the breed I chose would have to be exceptional in every way. So I began what I call "Breeder College" Ater 2 years of research I had just about given up on finding a dog that met all my criteria and very high standards. Then I happened upon the Irish Terrier and realized my dream.
What makes your program special?
I focus on personality as well as looks just because one of my dogs does well in the show arena does not automatically mean he or she will have amazing puppies. It is important to me to breed for that exceptional personality which can be achieved with proper and careful breeding. To me it would be an injustice to the Irish terrier to do anything less.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

This little boy is so much fun! He keeps us all laughing with his silly antics. He is such a good boy.

The puppies are doing great with their training and socialization! They are enjoying the cool weather when they get to go romp around outdoors. I doors they are paper trained and working hard on being fully houstrianed. Annie has rung the bell to go outside to potty as has Chip. I am so proud of these guys! They are all so smart. One of my favorite things about my Irish, the trait I have bred for and achieved after over 20 years, is how much they want to please you. Their proud little walk when you tell them they are doing a good job is a trait I noticed in the first male I had many years ago. As soon as I noticed it, I knew I wanted to see it in more of my puppies. Every puppy has it to some degree all these years later, and it makes training these intelligent little babies so much easier.
