I'm Millie J., the breeder behind Cloverdell Irish located in Splendora, TX. My puppies are raised in my home. I am a boutique breeder. I have just 3 Irish they are my family, they are my heart. I breed only the highest quality Irish terriers if the breeding pair does not pass rigorous health, conformation, and temperament tests I absolutely will not breed them.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I decided I wanted to become a breeder 22 years ago. However I promised myself that the breed I chose would have to be exceptional in every way. So I began what I call "Breeder College" Ater 2 years of research I had just about given up on finding a dog that met all my criteria and very high standards. Then I happened upon the Irish Terrier and realized my dream.

  • What makes your program special?

    I focus on personality as well as looks just because one of my dogs does well in the show arena does not automatically mean he or she will have amazing puppies. It is important to me to breed for that exceptional personality which can be achieved with proper and careful breeding. To me it would be an injustice to the Irish terrier to do anything less.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies are red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Millie

Millie partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 6 weeks old.

Puppy prices include a $200 non-refundable deposit and between $2,600 - $3,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“All my puppy's are AKC registered, guaranteed to be healthy and sound both mentally and physically. They will be up to date on vaccines and worming. We require a $200 deposit to hold your puppy for you. If we hold a puppy for more than two weeks the deposit will no longer be refunded.”

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • DNA Disease Panel

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    Having previously owned two Irish Terriers, finding the right breeder whose philosophy and values aligned with ours was very important to us. Our experience working with Millie has been and continues to be excellent. We had several conversations with Millie prior to selecting our puppy, Murphy. In her breeding program, Millie focuses on health, confirmation, breed standards, and temperament. All these attributes are equally important, but for us, temperament is critical, since Murphy is a family member and pet who we do not plan to show. Murphy arrived at our home on March 15, 2026. She is a special girl. Her disposition and personality are exceptional. It is really evident to us that Millie spends a lot of time socializing her puppies! Murphy is sweet, confident, smart, and eager to please. We house trained her using a crate in three weeks. In the six weeks that she has been with us, she has also learned ‘come’, ‘sit’, ‘stay’, and we are working on several other obedience commands. We are thankful for having found such a wonderful puppy and grateful to Millie for the care and energy that she puts into breeding exceptional Irish Terriers.

    We found Cloverdell Irish and Fitz, formerly known as Chip, on the Good Dog app. Millie was very friendly and easy to work with. She answered all of our questions and loaded us up with all the info we needed. Cloverdell Irish has a very homey atmosphere that made us 100% sure we selected the right breeder. We couldn’t be more happy with Fitz. He is so friendly and eager to please. Our vet even said she had never seen a more affectionate male puppy. He already has a fan club at Lowe’s and Pet Smart.     We had a wonderful experience working with our breeder, Millie. As first-time dog owners, we really appreciated how friendly, knowledgeable, and easy she was to communicate with throughout the entire process. While we were waiting for our puppy, she sent plenty of videos and pictures of him and his littermates, which made the experience feel very special and helped us feel connected to him before he even arrived. She also provided a helpful list of all the supplies we would need along with many useful hints and tips for bringing a puppy home, which was especially appreciated as new dog owners. She arranged transportation through her flight nanny, who was wonderful and took excellent care bringing our puppy safely to us. Our puppy came to us as “Champ,” and we named him Killian. Our veterinarian commented that he is a beautiful representative of his breed, which was so nice to hear. Even more important, he has the most wonderful disposition — sweet, confident, and very smart. He has already learned simple commands like “sit” and “come,” and he sleeps through the night in his crate. Despite arriving during the historic blizzard we had in New York, he has been surprisingly easy to potty train with only a few normal puppy mishaps. He truly has the sweetest temperament and has been such a joy to welcome into our home — a real little gentleman. We are so grateful to have him as part of our family. He has already brought so much happiness into our home, and we couldn’t imagine life without him.
