Meet the breeder

I'm Connie D., the breeder behind Connie's American Eskimo Dogs and Mini Australian Shepherd Dogs located in Westwego, LA. We do our best to socialize and acclimate each litter so we’re able to offer all-around healthy and well-mannered puppies! We are dog lovers through and through! Our pups are such an important part of our lives, and we can’t imagine being without them. It’s an amazing experience as breeders to provide others with puppies that we know will bring them the same joy!

Q. & A. with Connie

  • Why did you start breeding?

My first american eskimo dog was in 1998. His name was Chance. I loved him so much that I thought I would get him a companion, Lilly. They had puppies and I started raising eskie puppies a few years later. My daughters were excited to have puppies around and took joy in naming each one. They have grown up and have children of their own now. Grandchildren come to visit and play with the puppies now.
  • What makes your program special?

From the very beginning, the birth of the puppies, until the day the owner picks up their puppy, I take extremely good care of the puppies. Since, I am retired I can devote all of my attention to the puppies and make sure all of their needs are met. I play with them and make sure they get a chance to play outside and develop their social skills. The Embark test panel has been taken and Raven and Sparkey have clear/normal test results.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our American Eskimo Dog puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our American Eskimo Dog puppies include white and biscuit and white. Miniature American Shepherd puppies include black tri and blue merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

It was great to work with Connie to get our Mini Aussie puppy, Cuddles (who we renamed Maisey)! She was quick to respond and called to tell me all about her and to answer my questions. She met us on short notice to deliver Maisey to us, and gave us a gift bag full of food, toys, a cute pink collar and leash so we would be set to take Maisey home. Connie was very kind and even checked on us the next day. We love our Maisey Girl and happily recommend working with Connie!

Connie was so great and easy to work with to get our new American Eskimo puppy Yeti! She did a great job raising him. I can tell he was taken care of with love. And it shows in his personality. She kept me updated weekly with videos and pics of him. She also set us up with Ed the dog transporter who drove Yeti to us in Michigan. Saved us time and money not having to travel to get him. And he is used to being in a car and crate. She included a care package with him which included food, toys, blanket, collar and leash. That was so very thoughtful and helpful for her to do! We loved working with her and will definitely use her again in the future for another pup! The good dog payment process was simple, quick and easy too!

Connie was quite responsive throughout the whole adoption. She would send pictures and give updates on the puppy's welfare. It was an easy process to work through both Good Dog and with Connie. I felt safe that my puppy was going to be treated right and have a good foundation to come home. She was able to arrange transportation for our pup and that really saved us time and aggravation. Should our pup need a sister in the future, we would absolutely want to work with her again.

Connie was incredibly responsive and helpful. We spoke several times on the phone. It was clear she was very interested in the type of home we would provide and our experience with pups and this breed. Little Lorenzo is so gorgeous! She continued to send pictures while we worked out dates and transport. He arrived with bags packed filled with his food, puppy pads, toys, treats and snuggles.

Connie Darby is a very conscientious breeder of American Eskimo Dogs. Our journey with her started shortly after our 15 year old Eskie passed away. We knew we wanted another Eskie puppy but they are hard to find. After dealing with several scammers we looked on Good Dog and found that Connie had a litter of American Eskimos soon to be born. In our excitement we called Connie to inquire about adopting one of her puppies. She spoke to us both professionally and personally about her soon to be born puppies. We knew we had found a wonderful breeder. So we put in our request for a female Eskie and put down a deposit even before the litter was born. We kept in touch with Connie via text or phone call throughout our time before and after the puppies were born. Connie sent us pictures and videos of the pups shortly after they were born and gave us our choice of the two females. Once our choice was made Connie continued to send us pictures and videos of our puppy whom we named Jada. We anxiously awaited Jada’s arrival all the while communicating with Connie. She answered all our questions and gave good advice. The big day finally came when Ed the transported dropped Jada off to us and her new home when she was eight weeks old. Jada was a happy healthy puppy who bonded to us right away. We are so in love with our little girl and thank Connie for all she did to make our dreams come true! We highly recommend Connie Darby to be everyone’s first choice when picking out a breeder of American Eskimo Dogs!
