I'm Lee C., the breeder behind Copper Moon Leonbergers located in Gum Spring, VA. I do not provide puppies. My stud program focuses on enhancing breed quality through selective pairings that produce puppies with good health/temperaments and the qualities to succeed in conformation, companionship, performance, and most importantly, as a loving, fun member of their families!
Q. & A. with Lee
Why did you start breeding?
When I first got Jake, I worked with a long-time Leonberger and Kuvasv breeder who is internationally recognized for her knowledge as a breeder and judge. She encouraged me to show and breed Jake and has been an amazing mentor as I learned more about the process. As I became more involved with the breed, I recognized how important developing good stud dogs is to ensure the success of the breed.
What makes your program special?
I have and will continue to be highly selective in breeding my dogs, Jake, and when old enough, his son Kane. I assess the prospective female and the environment and goals of her breeder's program to ensure that any puppies produced will be healthy, have good temperaments, and go to loving forever homes. To me, the prospective breeder's values must align with mine for any breeding.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
