I'm Kathy L., the breeder behind Coppermoon German Shepherds located in Bemidji, MN. I am a small breeder in northern Minnesota. My goal is to produce puppies with great temperaments and trainability, ultimately resulting in outstanding working dogs, show dogs, and family companions. As each and everyone of my dogs possess. We spend lots of time socializing and training our pups so they will have a great foundation of good behavior and neurological development, along with lifetime breeder support.

Why did you start breeding?
Over 30 years ago, I started out breeding Collies being drawn to herding dogs in general. My mentor when I was younger bred German Shepherds and I finally stepped into this majestic breed to carry on her legacy over 25 years ago and I haven't looked back!What makes your program special?
I dedicate my time and energy to producing a well-rounded, excellent-tempered GSD, with impeccable health clearances. It's about family companions first and titling a dog is icing on the cake! I give my puppy people lifetime support and have made so many friends along the way, near and far.What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies include long, plush, and stock coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include sable, black, black and tan, black and red, and bi-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

"Deposits are required for puppy reservation. Deposits are non-refundable, but are transferable to future litters. Deposits are requested once mating has taken place. Deposit refundable only if not enough specific gender or enough pups in litter."

Parent health testing
Excellent level

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Temperament Test
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Genetic Diversity Test, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
