Mia S.

Breeder of Ibizan Hounds

Meet the breeder

I'm Mia S., the breeder behind Crowned Ibizan Hounds located in West Greenwich, RI. Crowned Ibizans was born from my love of Ibizans. I want to help preserve and further Ibizans by breeding healthy and sound dogs. A well-bred dog should be one that possesses good health, sound temperament, correct structure, and prey drive. Crowned Ibizans is home to top winning and history-making Ibizan Hounds. I focus on producing stellar wire-coated Ibizans with good health, sound minds, and correct to standard structure.

Q. & A. with Mia

  • Why did you start breeding?

When I got my first Ibizan in 2017, I fell head over heels for the breed. I became obsessed with Ibizans and this love eventually turned into me wanting to help preserve and further the breed. I take and follow the advice of my friends and mentors in the breed, who have been breeding much longer than I have, to try to produce healthy, happy, mentally sound, and physically capable dogs.
  • What makes your program special?

I health test my dogs accordingly to OFA's CHIC requirements to help ensure good health of my breeding prospects. I breed according to the written standard and strive to produce dogs with sound conformation that can succeed in the show ring. I also lure course with my Ibizans to preserve prey drive and the want to hunt. I socialize my puppies extensively so they can be well-rounded family pets.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
