I'm Sarah C., the breeder behind Curtin Creek Schipperkes located in Vancouver, WA. I am dedicated to breeding Schipperkes that excel in every aspect of life. My breeding program focuses on producing healthy, sound, and versatile dogs that thrive as loving family companions while also succeeding in conformation and performance sports.

Why did you start breeding?
After having kids, I decided I wanted to get a small dog that could keep up with my Shepherds. I researched and bought my first Schipperke. After seeing how difficult it was to find a breeder and seeing the differences within the community than other breeds, I decided I wanted to breed and whelp my own litters. My 1st breeder helped me network and find a female that would potentially pair well.
What makes your program special?
I am actively working on getting my dogs conformation, weight-pull, fast cat, and barn-hunt titles. I do show in AKC but I do not hire professional handlers. My goal is to preserve the breed's intelligence, structure, temperament, and working ability so each puppy has the potential to become an exceptional partner, whether in the show ring, on the trial field, or at home.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

Getting a puppy from Sarah

Sarah has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Sarah partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 7 weeks old.

“Even though I am new to breeding Schipperkes, I have extensive experience in matching temperaments to families. I typically pick for you at around 7 weeks based on preferred gender/temperament. ”

Price

Puppy prices include a $600 non-refundable deposit and $2,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Price includes AKC registration, microchip, regular dewormings. Puppies will see a vet at 8 weeks and get their first DHPP. Puppies are extensively socialized with other animals and children. I can meet you at PDX for no charge. All of our puppies are the same price, regardless of gender. Deposit is non-refundable. I cannot control mother nature, you can choose to move to the next litter for any reason.”

Sarah may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered), Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA), Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel, Mucopolysaccharidosis Type IIIB (MPS IIIB)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
