I'm Chris K., the breeder behind Dakota Point Kennel located in Hazen, ND. Our dogs are bred to produce healthy, sound, and versatile pups. They make excellent hunting companions and family pets. We breed each litter of puppies with the goal of superior temperament, health, conformation, movement, and the natural ability and drive to hunt. We take great pride in our dogs, and they produce outstanding puppies.
Q. & A. with Chris
Why did you start breeding?
I got into breeding from a friend that had an excellent dog, and I also did. I believed in improving the breed for the better. There were very few breeders in my state, and I wanted the people in my area to have a chance at owning a smaller pointing dog that hunts and works close.
What makes your program special?
We only have one or two litters a year. Our dogs are family dogs and not kennel dogs. They are part of the family. Each puppy picks there forever home by matching their family. We try to start potting training and crate training as pups to ease the transition for the future owner.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include tri-colored, orange and white, liver and white, and black and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Parent health testing
Breeder-Reported Testing
Good level
Dakota Point Kennel reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for French Brittanys.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Brucellosis
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
