Meet the breeder

I'm Kristin W., the breeder behind Ironbound German Shepherds located in Columbia, KY. Our goal is to produce outstanding puppies that are structurally sound, healthy, intuitive, and have wonderful temperaments. We are dedicated to placing the perfect pups into loving homes.

Q. & A. with Kristin

  • Why did you start breeding?

I grew up around the breed and always loved how intelligent they were. Then, in 2011, when I got my first pair (it didn't work out) I ended up getting my working dogs and fell in love with the working line German Shepherds.
  • What makes your program special?

I am very dedicated to what I do and what I am trying to achieve as a breeder. I work with passion, heart, and integrity and truly want what's best for the German Shepherd. I don't just place any puppy with any person. I make the best matches based on that family's needs. I have been working with my lines for three generations now and have in-depth knowledge of them, something most are lacking.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have stock coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include sable, black, bi-color, and black and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Kristin

Kristin has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Kristin partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 6 weeks old.

“I take great pride in matching the correct puppy to the correct home! I don't want to place a higher drive, working prospect puppy in a home that doesn't need or want that level of dog. I do preliminary temperament testing around 5 weeks and again, a formal temperament testing is done at 6 weeks. I will then compile a list of prospects that fit the buyer's needs and wants and give them a choice for puppies that match their requirements for a puppy. ”

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $1,500 - $3,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.
Pay over time with Klarna.

“Also included are AKC puppy litter registration, a vet check, microchip, all deworming and shots, a health guarantee, contract, and daily training of your puppy. All deposits are non-refundable, but fully transferable to a future litter. All puppies from a breeding are priced the same, not based on gender/color/registration.”

Kristin was incredibly responsive and a pleasure to work with throughout the entire process. Everything felt so seamless and well organized, making the experience truly effortless. We are absolutely blown away by our puppy’s temperament and drive - you can tell these dogs come from outstanding bloodlines. The quality and care Kristin put into her breeding program is evident in every way, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a while bread, solid, German Shepherd. You won’t be disappointed!

Hello! John D. Barrow from Pleasant Hill, Iowa. In Richmond, Kentucky I met Miss Wilkerson in person on June 6, 2025 to pick up my sweet, new fur baby, "Gustav". Miss Wilkerson had this sweet baby boy listed as "Noah" on Good Dog. He has five brothers and one sister from his litter. His dad is named Maestro. Miss Wilkerson drove my new puppy and his beautiful mommy, Valkyrie, all the way from her home or kennel an hour or so away to meet me at my hotel room. She had all of Gustav's puppy papers in neat order. She was very nice! She has been communicating with me a lot since I reserved Gustav about a month ago. I think Gustav will grow up to be a noble, beautiful and loyal German Shepherd dog. His mother is a true looker! I have dreamed of owning my very own solid black German Shepherd Dog for about 15 years now as they are the true kings of domestic dogs. I finally acquired more than enough money through a recent knee injury settlement to make this pretty boy possible in my otherwise lonely life. Dogs are so much nicer as friends than people. Grown up, he will appear scary like any big black leopard to any cowardly punk on the street who might otherwise try to hurt me. Gustav is very sweet and cuddly especially for a male German Shepherd puppy. Some people claim retrievers are cuddlier and sweeter than Shepherds and that bitches have a more gentle personality, but Gustav is about as affectionate as any Labrador puppy I've ever owned in the past, male or female. Since German Shepherds are often for protection, it is actually a good thing they won't readily cuddle up to strangers like Lab or Golden retrievers often do. Retrievers have been known to hold flashlights for home burglars. I believe Kristin chose the right puppy from the litter for me personally through temperament testing. I traveled by automobile long and hard to score this precious little fur baby and it was a fun adventure in doing so. Some times the best things in life take some effort to truly come by. Gustav is worth much more than his weight in gold to bring him all the home in central Iowa!
