Meet the breeder

I'm Curtis W., the breeder behind Delilah's Destiny's Schipperkes located in Seymour, MO. We cherish each of our dogs and puppies. We do everything we can to make sure they get the best lives, from babies to good forever homes. That's everything from choosing healthy parents with good temperaments, to proper socialization and daily care. To placing them in loving furever homes with wonderful families. We strive to provide each of our puppies and families with a truly positive experience! Do not request a puppy if you're a breeder of any sort.

Q. & A. with Curtis

  • Why did you start breeding?

I had always dreamed of breeding these dogs. I finally retired on 5 acres out in the country and over a period of time I acquired several breeding adults. And as they say, the rest is history!!!
  • What makes your program special?

It is simply that I take complete responsibility for every dog in the program. All my breeding adults have been DNA'd and tested for MPS IIIB, with clear results on all of them. If something arises with a puppy during their early stages, I will not offer that particular puppy for sale. The only time is if a prospective buyer is interested in one of them. I will go over in detail exactly what the facts are with that puppy/adult. I will also not ask the full purchase price either. However after completing the sale and transfer of ownership I am no longer responsible for the dog. (I will help with rehoming any dog from my program if circumstances requires it.) This is one of the reasons I currently have so many Schipperkes here now. But I don't mind since I love and cherish every single one. But it sure does take a lot of carrots for treats around here.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include chocolate, cream, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Curtis

Curtis has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and $1,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.
Pay over time with Klarna.

“Registration application for either AKC / UKC / CKC, whichever is applicable. At the time of acceptation of the puppy / dog, they will have a Health Certificate if required for certain forms of travel (or requested by the new owner.), up to date on shots according to their age, and a complete set of all their health records. If using Air Cargo I will supply the necessary airline approved crate at no cost. I ask for a $500.00 deposit to hold a puppy for a prospective buyer. If a deposit is not placed I am under no obligation to hold any puppy and may sell the puppy to somebody else who is interested in that particular puppy. Now, if you are not sure which puppy you would like to have, you are still required to place a deposit. The reason for the non-refundable deposit is due to the time, work, and expenses I have in breeding our babies.”

In today's digital landscape, Good Dog played a crucial role in connecting us with a dog breeder who provided exceptional service. Great service from Curtis (the breeder) was characterized by transparency, timely communication, and a genuine commitment to Schipperkes. As a responsible breeder, Curtis knew our puppy's personality traits and shared them with us. Since this was our first Shipperke, he shared his decades of experiences with us too. We could tell that he really cared for his dogs and wanted them to find loving homes. As a dog lover, I am grateful for breeders who take the time to showcase their dedication. If you're considering adding a Schipperke to your family; I recommend Curtis for his commitment to good service and ethical practices. It was a rewarding and entertaining experience for us. Their Shipperkes; how could it not have been anything but entertaining?

Curtis was very easy to work with even from long distance. We chose to drive from Minnesota to Southern Missouri to pick up the two Schipperkes we purchased. Curtis was good about describing and sending pictures of the available dogs/puppies. Dogs poured out from everywhere. We learned later after talking with Curtis that some of the dogs were rescues he takes in. He had Schipperkes in various colors and sizes. He knew every dog and their names. So even if you decide you don't want the dog/puppy you originally decided on, there are other dogs if you want an older dog. His pricing is also very reasonable. The two puppies we picked up were 10 months and 2 months old. True to the Schipperke breed, our two are very intelligent learning quickly, high energy doing zoomies through the house or in the yard and even though cautious of new people or environments, they are social. We have taken them into stores and always get attention as they are cute and an unknown breed. They tolerate petting and being held. No matter if it's in our yard or when we go somewhere, they have their noses to the ground sniffing all the scents. They are very curious and incredibly inventive, getting things to chew that we have no idea how they got it. Whenever I would need another Schip, I would be happy to contact Curtis to see if he has a litter ready to find a home.

This is our second pup with Curtis! Jimmy dean has done very well adjusting to his brother Henry, and Henry to Jimmy. Jimmy is much more of a trouble maker and mischievous, but that’s what happens with the baby of the family, as well as having two dogs with very different personalities. Curtis is very efficient with response times, scheduling and working with you to best fit your needs with a new addition to the family. We couldn’t ask for better dogs.

It’s been a journey to get Vixie here in Canada. Especially the shipping. Vixie was dropped snd we had thought flight was in the way only to find that due to aircraft change her shipping was to be delayed to next day. Curtis retuned to retrieve her only to return to do it again next day. We were so happy to retrieve her on Mother’s Day. What a gift. She’s adjusting well into our family and very welcomed from her big brother Cash. Cash is another schipperke we adopted from Curtis 4 years ago. Vixie is a happy and healthy special girl. We are happy to have her home.

Curtis is so knowledgeable and loves this breed so much, he was so helpful with bringing home my new Baby. He still stays in touch and gives us tips which is amazing. He’s a very sweet guy and we are so glad that we found him! He’s helped me understand the breed better than I was able to with all the research I did. This is our First Schipperke and she is the smartest and most loving dog I’ve ever met. She learned how to sit and was kennel trained within the first week! She has the funniest personality and definitely lives up to the “little black devil” name, she’s got some sass and spunk in the right ways lol. we ended up naming her Videl 🖤 We love her so dearly, we will definitely be coming back to Curtis when we get another skippy :) we are already hooked on the breed.

What a wonderful experience - Curtis has a true, dedicated passion and knowledge for this breed. Those pups are really living a wonderful life with him. His communication was above and beyond, we were able to talk on the phone, he was very responsive and thorough via text, and sent lots of pictures. I picked up Jupiter in person, and he was clear with directions, and made sure Jupiter had everything he needed for the flight out of St. Louis. Thank you Curtis for facilitating this intelligent, beautiful, cuddly, particular little captain to our family! I can't imagine life without Jupiter now. He is incredibly healthy, resilient, and quick to adapt. Training has been a joy. Of course, he's a schip, so it's not an easy process, but he has been a dream compared to what we were prepared for. We're already thinking about when we can introduce a chocolate schip to the family...!
