Meet the breeder

I'm Gretchen D., the breeder behind Dutton Dog Co & Dalla Grazia Doberman located in Williamston, Sc, SC. We’re passionate about raising exceptional dogs. Every puppy is thoughtfully bred, fully health-tested, and raised in our home with early socialization and enrichment so they grow into confident, well-rounded companions. Whether you’re looking for a loyal family dog, a performance partner, or a show prospect, we’re here to help you find the perfect fit for your home.

Q. & A. with Gretchen

  • Why did you start breeding?

I have always wanted to breed dogs, but have never had dogs I thought were breeding quality. After many puppy/dog evaluations and years of testing, I finally decided on my foundation females, and they bring excellent characteristics and traits that will improve their breeds as a whole.
  • What makes your program special?

Few breeders have the depth of expertise to run multiple successful programs with the same high standards. I'm not just a breeder, I have formal training and real-world experience as a vet tech and animal science professional, giving you the knowledge to prioritize health, genetics, and ethical breeding practices. All breeding dogs are screened for hips, elbows, heart, eyes, and breed-specific genetic conditions. This goes far beyond minimal requirements, ensuring longevity, soundness, and better quality of life for your puppies. Puppies are born and raised in my home, not a kennel environment. They receive early neurological stimulation (ENS), early scent introduction (ESI), and structured enrichment so they grow into confident, adaptable dogs. My relationship with puppy families doesn’t end at pick-up. I provide ongoing advice, guidance, and are always available to help with training, health questions, or support. I breed for dogs who meet breed standards in structure and beauty without sacrificing temperament or working ability. Many of my dogs succeed in conformation, performance sports, and as steady family companions.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Doberman Pinscher puppies include black and rust and red and rust. Labrador Retriever puppies include black, chocolate, and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.

My goodness, Dalla Grazia Doberman is amazing. We got our baby boy a month ago and I am still so over the hills. Not only did they keep us updated during the growing process but they keep in contact for all help or recommendations. No matter what simple questions I have they are always completely willing to help and give advice, they actually care about their babies. This was not a here is your dog you are on your own but they honestly want what’s best for the babies. Could not have chose a better breeder. Also, during the growth period they are kept close and inside, although, safely socialized. I’ve seen so many breeds lead the babies outside but this breeder is not one of them. She keeps them close you won’t get just a picture you will receive regular updates and vet updates while you await proper age pickup. Kosta has adapted so well to our home and he gets compliments every time we are safely socializing him (aka holding him like a baby, haha). My seven year old is obsessed with him. Although, I can go on and on. We want to express our gratitude again Dalla Grazia, the wait was worth it. He is a perfect family addition.

Gretchen was professional and quick to respond to all our questions! We had never purchased a puppy this way and had lots of questions throughout the process. Gretchen was knowledgeable about the breed and kept us updated on how our puppy was doing until we were able to bring him home at 8 weeks. We would definitely recommend Dutton Dog Co for your puppy needs!

I recently adopted a Doberman from Gretchen’s breeding program, and I couldn't be more impressed with the experience. They took the time to explain everything I needed to know about the Doberman breed such as its temperaments, training requirements, and health care. I was impressed by their genuine passion for the dogs they breed, and it was clear they prioritize the well being of both the puppies and their future families.

Gretchen was just a pleasure to work with. She was incredibly helpful and gave us a ton of resources to help us hit the ground running with our new puppy, Mars. She answered all of of questions during the process and even provided answer tk questions we didn’t even know we needed to ask. She gave us links to all the materials we would need to care for our pup, like pens, grass pads, dremel for their nails, etc. she went above and beyond for us the whole way through. It was obvious how much she cares for her dogs and the great environment that they come from. I would absolutely go back to Gretchen in a heart beat the next time we wanted a pup. Thank you so much!
