I'm Lauren T., the breeder behind Emerald Creek Kennel located in Ninety Six, SC. Our dogs are not a business, but one of our many hobbies and passions. Our goal is to preserve and improve the AmStaf breed. We breed on a limited basis and only when we need to produce a puppy to keep for our program. Our puppies are whelped in our bedroom and all of our dogs live inside our home.
Q. & A. with Lauren
Why did you start breeding?
I've was raised showing, training, and breeding Quarter Horses, so it's always been a part of who I am. As I grew up and left home, I decided to continue on with American Staffordshire Terriers. I've been in the breed since 2004, and been in the veterinary field just as long.
What makes your program special?
Puppies will go to their new homes with age-appropriate vaccinations/dewormings, a microchip, dewclaws removed, a trial of pet health insurance, and a new pet care package (contains a small bag of food the pups are on, at least one month of heartworm, flea, and tick preventative, and other goodies). Puppies will be heavily socialized, and we offer extensive health and temperament guarantees.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Parent health testing
Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
Emerald Creek Kennel reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for American Staffordshire Terriers.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
