Meet the breeder

I'm Kenneth & Rachel W., the breeder behind Emma Lou's Baby Bassets located in Denison, TX. We proudly breed AKC European Basset Hound puppies for loving and caring homes. The loyalty and loving disposition of this breed are simply the best! We put a great deal of effort into raising our litters to ensure our puppy families will have the best experience.

Q. & A. with Kenneth & Rachel

  • Why did you start breeding?

Basset Hounds have always been part of our family. My wife Rachel, grew up with them, and our daughter Emma developed a love for the breed and a desire to raise puppies to share that joy with others. What started as a family passion grew into a dedicated breeding program.
  • What makes your program special?

Our dogs are raised as part of our family, not in a kennel-only setting. We focus on health testing, temperament, strong bloodlines, and proper socialization from day one. We are committed to responsibly breeding Basset Hounds that make wonderful lifelong companions.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black white and tan, black red and white, black and brown, black and white, tan and white, brown black and white, black white and brown, mahogany and white, white black and red, lemon and white, brown and white, black tan and white, black brown and white, and red and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

When it was time for me to get another baby Bassett, Kenneth and Rachel with the breeders for me in the sun from the very beginning they were extremely helpful very transparent. You could tell by their social media and website that they knew what they were doing and took breeding Bassett sounds very seriously, but more importantly loved what they did and loved the puppies and you could tell with every picture. They made it very easy for me as I was flying from out of out of town and brought me the most beautiful puppy which we named Francis. He’s absolutely gorgeous a complete handful in a good way a big bundle of energy and a wonderful addition and a new best friend to my senior Dog Turbo. I can’t recommend them enough and I know for sure that if I need another addition to my family that they will be the ones that I call.

Kenneth and Rachel were absolutely amazing to work with. Any time I had a question they responded quickly with an answer. I loved that they provided pictures and video of the puppies so that we felt like we had a part in their early development. The puppy care package that they sent home was thoughtfully put together and very informative. We could tell that Kenneth and Rachel love their dogs and want them to get off to a great start in their new homes. I think if there was one thing that impressed us most was how well socialized our Alexander has been. When we get a companion for Alexander we will definitely go back to Kenneth and Rachel!

I am so beyond thrilled with my experience with Kenneth! My new little lady, Miss Flopsie Magoo is simply perfect. This was my first time getting a dog through a breeder and I was admittedly a bit nervous; however, Kenneth was available and friendly and answered all my plethora of questions along the way. I was particularly impressed with the health testing results he boasts for his dogs that are all available to view on his profile. Responsible, respectful, and Kind. I dont think youll be disappointed to bring one of his little Basset babies home. Thanks, Kenneth for making my home and heart that much more full!

We had such a great experience with Kenneth & Rachel at Emma Lou’s Baby Bassets. They were incredibly easy to work with, kind, responsive, and very knowledgeable about the breed. You can tell they truly care about their hounds and making sure their puppies go to the right homes. I spent over a year looking for the perfect Basset Hound puppy. This is my fourth Basset—I raised my previous three from puppyhood through old age, and after losing my last one five years ago, it took me a long time before I felt ready for another. When I finally decided I was ready, I found the perfect fit with this puppy. From the minute we brought her home, she fit right into our family. I have three daughters ranging from 5 to 16, and she immediately connected with all of them. The very first night she wanted to snuggle up and sleep with my five-year-old. She’s adjusted so well, has had very few accidents in the house, and already loves being outside playing in the grass. Our vet absolutely loved her and even commented on what a perfect little puppy she is. We couldn’t be happier with our experience, and when the time comes in a couple of years to get her a friend, we’ll definitely be coming back to Emma Lou’s Baby Bassets. Highly recommend!
