Meet the breeder

I'm Jodi E., the breeder behind Erbekees-Keeshonden located in Fayetteville, TN. We are an ethical hobby breeding program with a great amount of education and experience in breeding healthy Keeshond puppies! I bred for companionship and my puppies go to families as pets. I do not show or sell my puppies as show dogs. Every litter is always a little different, but it is so fulfilling to see the different personalities and such a joy and challenge to hand-raise each puppy. I love watching them blossom!

Q. & A. with Jodi

  • Why did you start breeding?

I began breeding after being owned by the Keeshond for well over 25 years. I started breeding simply because I love this breed. I feel they are a family safe dog and they should be easier to find. I am very proud to be an AKC Bred by H.E.A.R.T. member and proud to say I fully health test every dog prior to placing them into my breeding program.
  • What makes your program special?

I am one of only a very few Keeshond breeders who actually health test all their dogs and post all results where people can see to verify. I am dedicated to making the health of my dogs a constant priority.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include white and black and silver. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

I am a returning customer with my second Keeshond from Jodi at Erbekees. Jodi has a clean facility, she genuinely cares about the wellbeing of her puppies and breeds for companionship qualities. She cares not only about her puppies' health but also the lives of the adult dogs; (I now have a 5 year old and an under 5 month old from Jodi.) I have experience with a wide variety of dogs as I have also fostered with my older dog being my resident dog to show rescued dogs how to be a "dog" after their experiences of terrible breeders or coming from other poor life situations. Having a healthy puppy from a quality breeder like Jodi is night and day compared to my fostering experience. The puppy I just got this year was well adjusted, Jodi had clearly been working on exposing the puppy to a wide variety of sounds and situations because we have constant firecrackers in my neighborhood, and my puppy had little to no reaction out in the yard just last night. My new puppy jumped right into puppy class' "strange noises box" and navigated cones and strange objects like it was no big deal. I have a helium balloon in the house, and no barking at it or avoidance with fear response, no startle responses, just a healthy puppy ready to go. My puppy is just so healthy compared to what I've seen out in the world from my volunteer experience that it is a breath of fresh air to have such a happy well adjusted puppy. I won't lie, Keeshonden are terribly smart and will give you trials for the first year and a half at least, but I'm so excited to work with this puppy, that I've been in so many puppy classes already at this point that I just feel this sense of pride about how trainable these dogs are. Also, when I met Jodi in person 5-6 years ago, I felt like she was down to earth and she had genuine common sense. I have now met her husband because for the second puppy I paid for the convenience of delivery. I am very happy with my second puppy and still adore my oldest dog from Jodi of Erbekees so much. Thank you Jodi!
