Q. & A. with Kerri
Why did you start breeding?
We started working with Jordan at Euro Deja Shepherds ~10 years ago as a guardian home to Jordan's breeding dog, Gwen. We raised all of Gwen's litters in our home under Jordan's careful supervision & guidance. Now, we have "graduated" to partner with Jordan as breeders, ourselves! Our puppies are under the Euro Deja program with all the same standards, health guarantees, etc.
What makes your program special?
We are families raising pups for families, intentionally small scale, & yet professional in practice achieving the rare combination of well-bred dogs that are also started on the right foot in life. This is also an intentional investment into the happiness and well-being of our adult dogs. Read why this is so beneficial to your pup: www.eurodeja.com/germanshepherdquestions.html
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies include stock, plush, and long coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black and black and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Vera
Vera is a born-and-raised Euro Deja puppy that was kept after careful consideration from our breeding with Gwen (now retired) and our beloved Finn. We're honored that she is now a part of our selective breeding program. She has a wonderful temperament just like the many generations before her and is a delightful member of the family located in Newark, Delaware. On the daily, she loves to play soccer with her three young boys and diligently watches over everyone's safety--including the chickens! She also shares faithful guardianship of the family with her Mom, Gwen, along with a household cat. Vera is loyal and intelligent with a sweet and happy demeanor. She has great focus and attention with a strong desire to please, making her a delight to interact with. Vera has great conformation and is graceful in movement. Her coloration is red and black, she has dark almond eyes, and the sweetest expression. See more of Vera on IG EuroDejaShepherds where you can watch vidoes of Vera on her highlight labeled "Vera".
Vera's hips and elbows are both SV a1-normal--the best rating! Her father Finn has the same score, and mother Gwen was evaluated by OFA receiving normal elbows and EXCELLENT hips which is in the top 4.2 percentile for German Shepherds! When evaluating the family clan's health track record, Vera's lineage comes out on top. Vera is Degenerative Myelopathy (DM) N/N Clear. None of her puppies will be considered At Risk for Degenerative Myelopathy. According to the OFA database, only 52% of German Shepherds are DM N/N clear. Vera was also screened for an additional 200+ genetic conditions; this extensive panel returned with the results that she is DNA CLEAR of every single genetic condition Embark has the ability to test.
Euro Deja Shepherds - Delaware reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for German Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Full Embark Panel, DNA Disease Panel, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
