I'm Susan P., the breeder behind Fenwyck located in Massachusetts. Because we are a small niche hobby kennel we only have 1-2 litters a year. The only reason we breed is to keep a puppy or two to carry on our lines and to compete in the field with. We are pleased to have generations of Junior Hunters who enjoy their ducks almost as much as their fireside mats! It gives me great pleasure to share my love of the wonderful Labrador.
Q. & A. with Susan
Why did you start breeding?
I actually wanted to be a Vet but allergies got in the way. Fortunately, they resolved and I was able to expand my involvement with dogs. This meant showing, competing, and breeding. It also meant I became active in my local breed clubs.
What makes your program special?
I am proud to be an AKC Breeder of Merit. As a small boutique kennel I have no desire to be big, nor do I want to produce large quantities of puppies. Our dogs are bred first for temperament, then equally as important for structural soundness and conformation, along with field ability. The dogs are part of our family, and mostly breeder and owner-handled in the show ring, in the field and elsewhere.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
