I'm Erin R., the breeder behind Firebrand Akitas located in Dublin, OH. We are a small, family-owned kennel. Our dogs are raised with love and are part of our family. We believe in responsible stewardship of this majestic breed and strive to produce healthy, well-tempered puppies. Our motto is: Champion Akitas of sound mind, body, and spirit.

Why did you start breeding?
I’ve always loved reproduction and the creation of life which is why it became my specialty once I graduated veterinary school. I love dogs, especially the Akita breed, and I knew that this would be my passion. We have been blessed with such wonderful dogs, I knew I wanted to continue that legacy for other families to have lifetime companions.What makes your program special?
Our dogs are raised with love and dedication to the preservation of the breed. We truly believe there is no better breed on the planet, and therefore work hard to be stewards of the dogs we produce. We provide lifetime support for any puppy we breed and strive to produce well balanced, sound, healthy dogs with stable, loving temperaments.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
Getting a puppy from Erin
Erin has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.
Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

“A $500 deposit is due to secure a puppy once a puppy has been identified to match you and your family's needs. A deposit will NOT be collected unless a puppy is available.”

Parent health testing
Excellent level

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
