Fisher Crane Shilohs

Carla C.

Breeder of Shiloh Shepherds

Meet the breeder

I'm Carla C., the breeder behind Fisher Crane Shilohs located in North Carolina. I am a proud and responsible breeder of Shiloh Shepherds. Our dogs live in our home and are valued members of our family.

Q. & A. with Carla

  • Why did you start breeding?

I decided to participate in the Shiloh Shepherd breeding program because these dogs make awesome Diabetic Alert Dogs.
  • What makes your program special?

My registry is ISSA and while we have always used COI and detailed pedigrees to manage our breed, in the last couple of years we have added genetic testing to aid in our breeding choices. We made this decision with the goal of preserving rare genes and improving genetic diversity in my breed.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Standard Veterinary Blood Panel

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
