I'm Mark F., the breeder behind French's German Shepherds located in Lamoni, IA. Our high-quality German Shepherds are the result of extensive pedigree research, titled and proven in competition. We are strong advocates of proper breeding practices and run our program accordingly. We promote the "Total Dog" and strive to produce versatile, multi-disciplined German Shepherd dogs with good health and excellent temperaments. As avid members of the German Shepherd Dog Club of America, we always breed to the standard. Our dogs have been placed as Service Dogs and excel in performance, conformation, AND work while also being the best companions at home.   • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Temperament Test

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Full Embark Panel, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
