Camille K.

Breeder of Bloodhounds

Meet the breeder

I'm Camille K., the breeder behind Frontier Hounds located in Palmer, AK. Frontier Hounds breeds purebred AKC Registered Bloodhounds located in Palmer, Alaska. Focused on the betterment of the breed, our dams & sires are carefully selected with the goal to produce healthy sound puppies that can be used for Search & Rescue, Show, Obedience, Companions, or Family Pets.

Q. & A. with Camille

  • Why did you start breeding?

Once adding Dixie to our family we decided we would take on this venture. We’ve worked closely with another Bloodhound breeder, whom has 30 plus years experience, to learn from and help us grow this Bloodhound breed with quality in mind. This, paired with Camille’s Veterinary Assisting experience and education helped us with breeding and raising our hounds to a higher standard. In 2019 we got our first stud dog pup, Huckleberry.
  • What makes your program special?

All of our puppies go to carefully selected homes as a Bloodhound is no ordinary “easy” breed of dog to raise and care for. We try our best to prepare new families for what to expect when you own a Bloodhound to ensure they have a lifelong home. Our goal for Frontier Hounds is to use the knowledge and experience we have gained to provide others with a quality hound.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

  • Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
