Meet the breeder

I'm Gena P., the breeder behind Froschwald German Shepherds and Xanadu Teddy Roosevelt Terriers located in Murray, KY. We breed for structure, health and temperament, and follow the parent dog club guidelines to provide healthy and sound dogs. Our goal is to bring you versatile, loyal, devoted Shepherds or Teddy's.

Q. & A. with Gena

  • Why did you start breeding?

30 years ago I bred rat terriers but my love for GSDs brought me back to Shepherds. Once retired I bought some acreage, built an indoor kennel and a large ex pen. I was surprised by an oops litter when my female had a silent heat, and even more surprised at the amazing pups my pair had thrown. I knew that with planned breedings the outcome would only get better.
  • What makes your program special?

The love and respect that I have for the GSD. They are my furry kids. A lot of thought, planning, and preparation goes in to each litter. Once whelped I do Early Neurological Stimulation and sound desensitization, socialization and some training. I can't help but cry when they leave, but know they will be going to great homes. Our Teddy Roosevelt Terriers are Embark paneled and have their patella's and cardiac vet checked. Results are submitted to OFA so that each of our breeding dogs receive a CHIC#. he Canine Health Information Center, also known as CHIC, is a centralized canine health database jointly sponsored by the AKC Canine Health Foundation (CHF) and the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA). CHIC, working with participating parent clubs, provides a resource for breeders and owners of purebred dogs to research and maintain information on the health issues prevalent in specific breeds.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our German Shepherd puppies have stock coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our German Shepherd puppies include sable and black. Teddy Roosevelt Terrier puppies include white and chocolate, white and blue fawn, white and blue, white and lemon, white and sable, white and silver, white and black, blue and white, and black and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Gena was super knowledgeable about the puppies and their personalities even though having multiple of them to look after. She was able to help us decide which one would be best for our family! All of the dogs are very loved and you can tell she cares deeply about what she does. I know who I’m recommending to anyone wanting a GSD!

Gena was extremely knowledgeable about the Teddy Roosevelt Terrier. She helped us to know more about the breed and how to better care for her. She explained about the vaccinations and which didn't do as well with her breed. You could tell Gena cared about her dogs. They were well cared for and loved. We are loving our bouncy little girl my husband named Molly Rae.

Gena was great and easy to talk to. She kept me informed every step of the way until I got to bring my little girl home who is as feisty as promised only took her a few minutes to come out of her shell and decide my hands and feet were chew toys lol. If you want a Teddy Terrier Gena knows how to get the best dogs

After we lost our dog, my daughter and I weren't ready for another puppy for a very long time. But when we finally started looking again, we very quickly discovered Teddy Roosevelt Terriers, and very quickly after that came across Gena's puppies. With Blue, it was love at first sight! Gena made sure we had everything we needed to take the best care of him, whether it was with the general history of the breed, detailed advice for vaccinations and veterinary care, or info about Blue's likes and quirks. It's very clear that Gena cares very much about this breed and her puppies, and does everything to make sure they'll be loved and cared for in her home and in yours! Blue's been with us for a couple of weeks and already it's impossible to imagine what it was like without him!

My husband and I recently lost our fur baby of 14 years. Our hearts were broken. It wasn’t long till we knew we needed a new little bundle of joy in our life. We found Xanadu Teddy Roosevelt Terriers on Good Dog and were able to purchase the most precious puppy ever! We were very pleased with the whole process and we couldn’t ask for a better puppy! We even drove 6 hours to get this boy! He just had his check up at the vet and he is one healthy little puppy! To Xanadu’s Teddy Roosevelt Terriers… THANK YOU! We love our puppy and he has brought us a tremendous amount of joy!
