Q. & A. with Gail
Why did you start breeding?
I watched my cousin's two kids and their Schnauzer many years ago and decided I loved the breed. I did a lot of research on Miniature Schnauzers. I found a female Schnauzer puppy and when the time was right, I bred her to my cousin's dog. I kept a female and my breeding program began. My vet introduced me to another breeder and my knowledge and interest grew. She was a breeder, groomer, showed her dogs, and had several champions. Bloodlines and favorable characteristics became a priority and still are in my breeding program.
What makes your program special?
My puppies are raised in my home and get a lot of attention and love. They are vet checked and get their tails docked and dewclaws removed at 3-4 days old. I start a worming schedule at 2-3 weeks. At 6 weeks, they get another vet check and their first shots. Though our 17 grandchildren are growing up, you can always find puppies being held and getting special belly rubs. I do not inbreed and make sure my mother dogs are healthy by giving them prenatal vitamins throughout the pregnancy.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
