Meet the breeder

I'm Xania M., the breeder behind Glacier Point Icelandics located in Mariposa, CA. The Icelandic Sheepdog is a very active mid-sized Nordic breed with a heavy double coat. They need plenty of exercise and tend to be vocal at times. Because they were bred to be a farm dog in Iceland, they adapt to many dog sports and excel in agility, lure coursing , rally and obedience.

Q. & A. with Xania

  • Why did you start breeding?

I needed a sheepdog but wanted to find a breed that I could use on the farm and still compete in conformation. The Icelandic Sheepdog has it all!
  • What makes your program special?

I have healthy lines from Germany and Iceland. I test for hips, eyes, heart, and temperament. I work with pieds and breed for working ability as well as looks.
