Why did you start breeding?
Our love for the German Shepherd dog began many years ago with childhood German Shepherds. Our first dog together was Golden Spike, the epitome of what every German Shepherd person seems to be looking for in their dog. He was a fearless, loyal, intelligent German Shepherd, with beauty and nobility that took your breath away. The golden spike is an integral part of the railroad's foundation, as was our Spike.What makes your program special?
Our dogs are literally our children and we only want what is best for them. That is why we will only place a puppy in a home that will continue our commitment to this breed. We like to think that each of our puppy owners is part of our extended family and encourage networking with us throughout the lifetime of their dog. We have many owners who have been a part of our family for 30 years.Where do your breeding dogs live?

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
