Golden Hill’s Weimaraner’s

Savannah S.

Breeder of Weimaraners

Meet the breeder

I'm Savannah S., the breeder behind Golden Hill’s Weimaraner’s located in Salisbury, NC. Our dogs are bred for health, intelligence, conformation, and positive disposition. We strive to ensure our dogs are being bred with the best traits of the breed and are backed with Genetic testing. We raise our puppies in our home and offer our love and support for the entirety of their lives.

Q. & A. with Savannah

  • Why did you start breeding?

My parents bred Weimaraners my entire childhood. My mother had Weims growing up and loved them. When I was about 3, my parents bought me my first two dogs that would later become some of our best. Seana was an import from Germany. She had it all: size, brains, and excelled in both the show ring and in the fields hunting. She was the reason I decided to breed Weimaraners.
  • What makes your program special?

I believe my breeding program is special because we put so much extra time and love into our dogs. They are not our “breeding dogs” - they are our family members. They are our priorities over anything else, and we don’t see them as a profit to be had. They are our kids are they come before anything else. Our goal is to have quality puppy’s for families who will love them as much as we do our own.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have smooth coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include gray and silver gray. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Breeder-Reported Testing

Great level

Golden Hill’s Weimaraner’s reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Weimaraners.

  • Hip Dysplasia

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Hypomyelination, Weimaraner Type, Spinal Dysraphism (SD), Hyperuricosuria (HUU)

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
