I'm Nate I., the breeder behind Grassroots German Shepherds located in York, SC. We breed for health and temperament. Our dogs are well suited for sport, work, or active families. Our dogs have stable/well-balanced temperaments that have the drive to work but the off switch to settle in great with active families. We have a passion for producing quality working line puppies and a commitment to placing puppies in homes they will thrive in.

Getting a puppy from Nate
Nate has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.
Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.
Price
Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and $1,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.
“The price includes limited AKC registration, lifetime breeder support, and a health guarantee. Puppies come up to date on shots, dewormed, and vet checked. They are exposed to ENS, crates, etc. The deposit is how to secure a puppy gender. We place puppies based on temperament and client needs. The deposit is credited toward the total price.
Please do not place a deposit without inquiring first. We do have an application process.”

protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you
both have a clear understanding of the terms of your
puppy purchase. If Nate offers a contract
or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
