Meet the breeder

I'm Priscilla M., the breeder behind Green Family Companion Kennel, LLC located in Akron, OH. Our dogs are bred for temperament and intelligence. We are serious about providing our puppy families with happy, healthy, energetic companions to spend their life with.

Q. & A. with Priscilla

  • Why did you start breeding?

Since some of our children have special needs, we understand the dilemma of wanting a dog but needing it to be a very stable, well-socialized dog. We began breeding to help other families like us find stable dogs for their special needs children, for older adults, people with disabilities, and others who need a well-mannered dog. We breed with an emphasis on Service Dog quality.
  • What makes your program special?

Our puppies are handled every day by people of many ages, different races, different abilities. We work on socialization, and our customers attest that our puppies are ready to learn basic obedience, are crate trained, and nearly house trained when they arrive at their new homes. Each puppy is a family member from the time it arrives to the time it leaves. We also keep contact with puppy families.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Miniature Schnauzer puppies include white, salt and pepper, black and silver, and black. Airedale Terrier puppies are black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.

Breeder-Reported Testing

Excellent level

Green Family Companion Kennel, LLC reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Airedale Terriers.

  • Hip Dysplasia

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Temperament Test

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Animal Genetics Panel, Full Embark Panel, Factor VII Deficiency, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

Our mini schnauzer from GFCK is one year old and has been a much-loved, perfect addition to our family from the start. He is intelligent, healthy, and an absolutely beautiful dog. He loves snuggling with his humans and playing fetch with a ball more than anything else in the world. He enthusiastically plays with our rowdy, young children, while staying gentle with them. We love this dog and look forward to many years with him ahead. Our experience working with Priscilla was similarly wonderful. She's very responsive, and the process was straightforward and transparent throughout. I wouldn't even consider looking elsewhere for our next mini schnauzer.

Working with GFCK was fantastic. They really care about their pups and keep you in the loop every step of the way. It was important to me to find a responsible breeder and I do not regret working with GFCK one bit!
