I'm Tammy H., the breeder behind Hancock House of Hounds located in Farmerville, LA. Hi! My name is Tammy Hancock. My husband Nicky and I are the breeders behind Hancock House of Basset Hounds and Mini Dachshunds. We're passionate about raising health happy puppies. We put a lot into socializing them so they can transition easily into their new lives. We treasure each puppy in our program and give them all the attention and care that we possibly can. We work hard so our puppies can leave our home with confidence, ready to take on the world with their new family!

  • Why did you start breeding?

    The joy that my 1st basset hound brought into my life and the breed was not common in my area I decided to start breeding.

  • What makes your program special?

    All my dogs are part of our family. I keep all my dog inside my home. They've all got safe fenced in areas to run and play. Mom and babies have their own room. I spend time loving on the puppies daily and whenever the get around 5 weeks I let them explore my home while mom is outside. I introduce them to my other dogs, and my grandchildren. With them living in my home they're use to different sounds and noises of every day life. I start introducing puppy pads training to them around 4 weeks. My prayer is for my puppies to find forever homes full of all the love that they receive in my care.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Dachshund puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Dachshund puppies include smooth and longhaired coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our Basset Hound puppies are black brown and white. Dachshund puppies include piebald, black, chocolate, black and tan, chocolate and cream, black and cream, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Tammy

Tammy has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Tammy partners with them to find the best puppy match.

“We take great care of placing our puppies with the right family. Puppies are a lifetime commitment and before taking a deposit I like to talk with their new parent. My goal is to make sure their new family has experience or has done their reach on the dachshund breed. As all breeds dachshunds there are pros and cons that come with owning one. If at anytime before the puppy is ready, I feel their new family is not a perfect fit I reserve the right to return the deposit and cancel the sale.”

Price

Puppy prices include a $250 non-refundable deposit and between $950 - $5,250 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“The price includes the full registration, health guarantee, dewclaw removal, deworming, vet check and 1st round of vaccines. The deposit is to reserve your puppy. It is non refundable unless something happens to your puppy while in my care or if the vet finds a health defect in either case you will get your deposit back.”

This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.
