I'm Stacey C., the breeder behind Happy Hounds located in Imler, PA. Our dogs are family pets that produce amazing puppies! Raised in my home, every puppy receives constant love, attention, and supervision. They work on potty training, manners, and socialization well before leaving my home.
Puppies first 8 weeks of life goes by super fast. I swear I blink and they are "old enough" to leave 😭. So while I have them, I spend so much time exposing them to as many things as I can here; loud noises, household items, steps, ramps, cats, other dogs, and even chickens! Their parents teach them how to be a dog and I begin teaching them how to be a family member. 😊
When puppies leave my house, I want to be certain that they are going to a home that will love and care for them as much, or even more than I do! Sometimes that takes me a little bit of time to look at applicants and see if I have a pup that will work out well for them. Sometimes I get multiple applications at the very same time on a particular pup and that can be tricky, but I do my best to respond as quickly as I can.
Different puppies can have such different personalities and behavior characteristics and may do better in different types of homes, and that's ok.
Basset hounds can be SO different from one another. Some are a little shy, while some are ready to wrestle your neighbor. At 8 weeks, their personalities are just starting to emerge. I try my hardest to match up puppies to their perfect home, so if you are interested in learning more about any of my pups, just reach out. Say hi.
Your puppy comes with a bag of starter food, a blanket and toy with moms scent, and CKC registration application. They have been using the doggie door and "potty outside" fairly well, with encouragement.
All puppies have been checked by a vet and given their first immunization. They are dewormed at 3 & 6 wks with pyrantel, and at 7 wks with safeguard fenbendazole. Parents are regularly treated with flea prevention, but due to age puppies have only used natural products.
Basset hounds can be so so loving. They can also be so stubborn at the same time. I'm not sure what I love about them the most, but I'd have to say that their intelligence is right up there on the list! 💡. If you think that a basset hound casually watching you put up a gate, isn't planning a way to get thru that gate, then you may get surprised when you turn your back on it. 🤣
For everyone who has had the pleasure of a basset in your life, while trying to "outsmart the dog", your my kind of people. For those of you who are new to bassets....., welcome 🤗
Great homes come in all shapes & sizes, but must be an indoor one. Bassets do not love getting very cold and some despise getting wet. They would make horrible livestock guardian dogs and would be miserable if not inside as part of a family, so no pup will be adopted to an outdoor only home! That is just about my only non negotiable.
Q. & A. with Stacey
Why did you start breeding?
After seeing that my dogs had such wonderful dispositions, I wanted to replicate that, and offer puppies to the public that share those characteristics. I wanted to keep purebred puppies at a reasonable price
What makes your program special?
My puppies are under foot all day, everyday. They are exposed to noises and situations which they will likely be exposed to in their forever home. This makes my puppies better able to adapt and fit into any family dynamic.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include brown black and white, brown and white, and black and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Jake, mom
Basset Hound
About Jake
Jakelynne "Jake" is a happy girl that just blends in with our pack. She seems to know the household rules and rarely gets into things that she shouldn't. As of today's date, I wouldn't expect her to tear up the trash when I leave the house, so she's pretty trustworthy in my opinion. 😊.
Jake has been a great mother and has done really well. From birth to weaning, she has been so kind but firm when teaching her pups.
Murphy, dad
Basset Hound
About Murphy
Murphy is a stickler of routine. He knows when it's lunchtime, nap time, snack time, and he likes to keep everyone on schedule!
Murphy loves car rides and walks around the pond. He likes smelling cats and sniffing mom after she has been out of his sight for any length of time.
Overall, Murphy is a sweet boy who is easy to please.
Missy, mom
Basset Hound
About Missy
Missy has taken to motherhood like a dream. Very attentive with her pups, and has been very gentle natured as a mother.
Of my pack of dogs, Missy is easily the life of the party! When she gets excited, you know it. The happiest time of day for her is when she gets to take a walk with her pack.
Missy likes to watch the cats and chickens thru the fence. She has never met a cat that she didn't love 💖
Juno, mom

Juno is a female Basset Hound. Carefully selected as a great representative of her breed, Stacey decided to make her part of their program. Stacey has passed Good Dog’s screening process, which involved a review of their breeding practices, environment, and the mental and physical health of their dogs.
